I downloaded the try-out version of Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, and it installed fine, and everything was going well.

But when I tried to run it, the program hangs in the splash screen. Ive tried the uninstall, reinstall trick, but not even that could defeat the problem =/

I thought that maybe the program has some issues with Athlon 64 processors, but I couldnt find anything online about this problem occuring anywhere else.

If anyone has any possible solutions to this, please let me know.

My system:

MSI Neo2 Platinum

Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester

1 gb Corsair XLPT DDR Ram (pc 3200)

BFG GeForce 6800 GT

Windows XP, SP 2

Primary drive is a 120gb western digital SE (ata)

I tried posting on the adobe forums... but they're no help, the only reply I got to my post was something like "DOES ANYONE KNOWING 64 GOOD FOR VIDEO EDIT??????"

Not on this computer, no.

It runs on my Athlon XP 2600+ system.  That one is running Windows 2000 SP4 as an OS though.

Just an FYI for all of you. "Industry Standard" is not Final Cut Pro, Premiere, or Vegas. Final Cut Pro and Premiere are used on some movies. Final Cut, for example was used on Sky Captain, Premiere is being used on Dana Brown's Dust to Glory. Industry standard is Avid.

But none of that helps you. I would say it could be the processor, i would not be surprised. Your specs look good, the windows 2000 shouldn't be an issue. Try Vegas. Or grab the free version of Avid and try that. Its a nice little program, not as robust as Premiere or Vegas, but it is FREE.

Also, to anyone who cares, if you exclusivly use one program over another, you can't really make judgement calls like "this one is the best." A more intelligent thing to do would be to compare and contrast the two, because both have definite strengths and weaknesses, but that is for another discussion.

Uh, could you point me in the direction of the free version?  I cant seem to locate it on their site... theres BUY IT signs all over.

Certainly.

There ya go. Its pretty cool, although i haven't played with it recently. let me know if that doesn't work, and i'll see if i can dig it off my old computer and post a mirror for it.

Avid is definitely "industry standard", but FCP and Premiere are also widely used. I'm a big fan of Premiere, and have never had trouble running it on any system I've ever used, (including the current dual Opteron246's). Being a bit of an Adobe ######, I prefer AP over the others due to the integration with other Adobe products, as well as ease of use. I wish I could offer a suggestion as to your problem, but you could try the Adobe Forums if nothing else works. HTH
