Cherry OS Trial Available!

Question

No, if Apple sues, it's because CherryOS is in breach of OSX's EULA, which specifically states that OSX can only legally be run on Apple hardware (or at least that's what I've been told...sue me if I'm wrong).  CherryOS is like the Napster of the emulation world.

By like Napster you mean like with Napster the functionality was already being done, better, and all it does is make it possible for N00Bs to do it?

if apple is smart, they'll buy up cherryos just like Microsoft bought up Connectix.

I agree. Apple could sell this product for whatever they wanted to and developers would buy it to develop or test software. I mean, other then that, what other purpose does this really provide? It is faster then what I thought it would be, but honestly, it isn't fast enough to use full time, just like other emulators (VMware Workstation, Virtual PC, etc.). It might even get more people to buy Apple Computers, who knows?

apple wanting ipods to run on PCs is a lot different than them wanting OSX to run on PCs. If you could run osx on a PC, there would be no need to buy apple hardware... now there are 2 trains of thought here... if they did release a PC version of OSX, you would have people who are devoted to buying macs, continue to buy macs and PC users who would never buy a mac really thinking about the software and PC/people on the fence buying it outright. The only downside i see to this is that a lot of mac people might becoming... hmm whats the word- disillusioned. remember ive heard apple being referred to as a cult- and for a lot of people its an exclusive club that low budget minded PC people just are not allowed to come near! ;) hehehehehe

Apple don't have a leg to stand on since CherryOS emulates the G4 processor and not MacOSX you could install Linux or any operating system that can run on x84 hardware which is not limited to Apple since Sparc are also creating G4 processors which you can buy and use in your Macs.

I know that some people claim rip, or whatever. Who cares?

585587598[/snapback]

If you'd like to know if it's going to be much faster than PearPC (as the developer claims it to be), you should care.

If it's a rip, it will have comparable performance, if it's what they claim it to be, it'll be almost godly.

If you're at all interested in running this software, why should you not care about that?

In pearPC even in the cursors you could see that is was lagging or in the status bars as well .. it took several hours to install OSX with it .. with this one I was already into the install rather quickly and the cursor animations were very smooth, although when I would click on the title bar you could see it was slightly laggy, and also if you move your mouse really really quickly you can see it lags slightly .. A hell of a lot better than my experience than PearPC so far.

Now that's interesting. :)

It would be great if this one wasn't a modified rip, and actually something real good. It would add a very nice and useful competition (for us) in the software PPC emulation area. :)

ATTENTION ALL CHERRYOS BELIEVERS, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. OPEN C:\CHERRYOS\ASTROAMATRO. THIS IS A PEARPC CONFIG FILE. IF YOU CHANGE THE LINE prom_bootmethod = "auto" to prom_bootmethod = "select" YOU WILL SEE PEARPC.

Taken from PearPC.net. I'm at school right now, so anyone wanna confirm?

    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
