you atleast have to make a profile, this is the file it puts those settings into, such as where the img is, and redraw, things like that.

Can anyone confirm that they have this file who didn't use a ppc image in their CherryOS install? I never used PPC but I am using CherryOS right now and I do not have this file.

Problem, for me at least.

When I go to install Panther 10.3, it gets to the language select screen or whatever, but nothing moves, I noticed that when it was "Preparing installation" the animated progress bar was NOT moving, when I alt tabbed out of the program, it start moving, and the cursor in CherryOS was animated (the busy animation) , same thing when it was booting, only when i alt tabbed out did I see the circular booting animation below the apple symbol, i cant click anything in the cherryos window, it doesnt respond, cant even move the mouse, if I go into CherryOS and click on the finder and alt-tab out real quick, I'll notice that the mouse jumps and moves to the button i pushed and opens it, when I click back in, again, unresponsive, keyboard doesnt work either...what's going on? :blink:

i can confirm it. i didn't use a pearpc image. got rid of it long ago. in fact it wasn't even the same computer.

:yes:

Atleast it makes everything point click and go.

PearPC was a pain in the arse to set up originally...

That isn't the point. The point is that it's using open source code in a closed source program and charging for it. That's a big no no.

Okay I have the file ASTROAMATRO now. It is created right after you create a profile and start it (doesn't require OS X to be installed), and here are it's content:

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "c:\CherryOS_HD\toxicfume\hdimage.img"
pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"
pci_3c90x_installed = 0
pci_3c90x_mac = "DE:AD:CA:FE:12:34"
pci_usb_installed = 1
nvram_file = "nvram"
pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = ""
 pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"
prom_bootmethod = "auto"
redraw_interval_msec = 10
 cos_start_resolution = "1280x1024x32"
prom_driver_graphic ="C:\DOCUME~1\xxxxxxx\LOCALS~1\Temp\ifrs_gkl.tmp"
memory_size = 0x20000000
pci_rtl8139_installed = 0
pci_rtl8139_mac = "DE:AD:CA:FE:12:35"
key_toggle_mouse_grab = "F6"
cpu_pvr = 0x000c0000

Familiar? ;) busted.

Apple technically can't sue CherryOS as the software is designed to emulate the PPC architecture. It's sole purpose is not to run OS X, and in fact OS X is not distributed with CherryOS.

Also for those of you saying Apple needs to buy up CherryOS, where in the hell have you been? PearPC are the true innovators here. Some of you may not think it's a rip, but I sure as hell do.

Don't you all think it would be one hell of a coincidence that a company devoted entirely to video streaming, encoding, etc., also has the knowledge to design a PPC emulator with roughly the same performance of PearPC (the first of it's kind), at around the same time? They miss their original release dates and the build sent to Wired some time back was PROVEN to have PearPC code in it. The coincidence is just WAY too large if you ask me. There were no PPC emulators until now, and all of a sudden we have TWO that seem to work the same way and perform the same way? Coincidence? No.

didnt the author of cherryos already admit it to be being based on pearpc code???

585588209[/snapback]

i don't ever remember them admitting to it, even though everyone knows it is pearpc. besides, it's not based off it, it obviously is pearpc with a GUI frontend.

ROFL!!!....BUSTED!!!...;)......might as well go and get CPP and install it there....and think about it...if they truly made a great great emulating software....would they charge $50 bucks for it?....can someone remind me how much Vitual PC was again?....:laugh:...exactly my point...

Personally I think PearPC should get a lawyer and get some sort of legal ball rolling, also I won't be using CherryOS (sounds like a cereal, Cherry O's) as after my experience with PearPC I bought a Mac of my own. You can't beat the real thing.

Ok, no matter how many times I launch my profile it will always say.."There was an error in your profile, press OK to get help." Even if you press OK nothing happens, I tried Windows 2000 compat. mode but that just crashed the whole program. Im using XPSP1 Professional.

Any ideas people?

I guess I'll wait until the program becomes a little more developed.

Hmmm maybe...

But Apple users seem to be the target market.

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
