I like those mintaure pictures of the windows that you've minimised in the bottom left cornor. How did you get that effect?

The feature is called minimize in place. There is a hack for 10.2 that will enable it (check google) by replacing the dock with an old version. IIRC you can also use a 'haxie' called WindowShadeX that will allow you to turn this on in 10.3
