Logitech MX518: It's official!

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

I have an MX518, and I love it. I did have a MX500 but my wife now has it. The setpoint drivers for this mouse are quite a bit different, and the nice thing about the mouse is that the sensitivity/dpi buttons can be used in Windows XP to adjust the dpi without having to install setpoint. The only catch to this is that the mouse will be more accurate in the dpi settings using setpoint and you can customize the different dpi settings you want to assign. It makes quite a difference in games, but it can also be a pain unless you go through setpoint and customize different ranges of dpi's for different detected games. The customization possibilities are almost endless, and it is a wonderful step towards advanced gaming mice.

I am curious to see how the mx1000 performs, but I love corded mice more due to the fact that I LAN a lot and get a lot of interference with wireless mice at LAN's. Apparently everyone else like to bring them too due to the ease of setup and clutter...

For those who doubt my possession of the mouse, here are some photos of it sitting on my SteelPad:

Apparently there are only 200 in the world right now, and this mouse will be different than the production mice that are being released in April. I guess I will find out when they become available for purchase.

Logitech master's in the art of jacking up prices of accessories that shouldn't cost more than 20$.

You get what you pay for, IMHO.

I feel that the ?30 I paid for my MX510 is money well spent, it's the best mouse I've ever used by a long shot.

Logitech keyboards and mice are the dog's danglies!

I didn't have to pay for this mouse, but I will be picking up an extra one when they go retail. I really like the feel of it in terms of response and the ability to change the dpi on the fly with no software needed. Logitech is a great company and they are quite innovative.

No, event staff for PDXLAN. Logitech sponsored the event and we handed out some of these mice. One of the winners was gracious enough to give it to me because I had helped him fix a really nasty hardware problem at the event so he could game. I was pretty shocked that he was that generous, but he had an mx1000 that he had just recently bought.

We have a 1,000 seat LAN coming up in August. http://www.pdxlan.net

    • Thanks free chatgpt. The issue is, with most browsers, is you shouldn't need tools to remove anything. It is the whole point of extensions. The only browser so far to man up and be honest that it needs money to function is Brave Origin. Don't like the monetisation and code bloat, have a clean browser for a one off $ charge. Firefox used to be that, but now it is a code bloat browser, hiding AI.
