Well I just installed Outpost Pro 2.0 and have to say that I like it a lot. It seems to be more lightweight than NIS and even ZAP. Good deal. (Y)

I wonder if it'd be worth paying for.

Out of these pay firewalls, which one would everyone recommend (or is it not even worth it)?

I like Kerio best. But I found Sygate's latest version very simiiar and it allows you to trace an attack as well. Also unlike Kerio, the free version of Sygate let's you do Home Networking without a problem. With Kerio you have to buy a license to do that.

I but I still like Kerio the best. :D

I use Norton Internet Security. The only thing that's really useful that sto me from switching to another firewall is the Spam Filter, which puts the words SPAM ALERT: in front of the subject line and then you can use a mail filter to send those to Deleted Items.

Just a quick side question also: I remember a GUI being made for the XP Firewall. Anyone know what I am talking about and remember where to download it?

Outpost seems nice though!

The last time i test it,

Using ZoneAlarm Pro 3.x ( can't remember now ), outpost 1.0, Kero, and others such as BlackICE.

Outpost wins hands down. Then latter i discover outpost 1.0 has a memory leacking bug. But it was fixed in 2.0

I haven't try 2.0 yet.

And i haven't tested Norton and Mcfaee solutions yet. But after testing all the avalible products i was able to download i am convinved that outpost is simply the best.

And 2.0 will only improve on that.

I have heard zonealarm 4.0 seems to have gone back to the good old days where it is solid and stable. However i havn't tested it myself so i am not sure.

    • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
    • The only difference here is that you think you came up with these reasons. You didn't. These age old fearmongering lies (that were NEVER true) were funded by and the anger stoked by Putin through proxies like Farage (and later in the USA, Trump) and filtered down through the skinheads, Neonazis, etc. until it reached the uninformed, ignorant, and gullible -- never realizing they were being played for fools against their own best interests. Even now, despite all of the EVIDENCE proving that Brexit was a terrible mistake for ALL citizens of the UK and that its supporters were tricked by Putin's proxies into sabotaging their own nation, you're still here defending these well-known lies as if they were ever true. Not only are they not true. They NEVER were. So, when are you going to realize that you were lied to and actually get angry at the liars and charlatans who lied to you, instead of blaming the innocent people they lied to you about?
