Ok, i'm really trying to migrate from trillian to miranda, but it's a hell to find out what to do to customize it...

Any suggestions for plugins/skins/sounds etc?

Are there any complete "packs"?

What i want is:

More emoticons, and sounds.

Connect at startup

The message windows to contain the history up to 10 posts before

The history log to be displayed as a chat, not as "incoming message" "outgoing message"

Emoticon sounds?

Anyway... to make it more trillian pro - like...

So if anyone would be kind enough to make a list of plugins/changes i need to make, i'd be grateful :)

More emoticons, and sounds.

All available (and sortable by popularity, date, &c.) from the FL.

emoticons: http://addons.miranda-im.org/index.php?action=display&id=41

sounds: http://addons.miranda-im.org/index.php?action=display&id=5

Standard emoticons require the SmileyAdd plug-in. Animated emoticons require IEView in addition.

Connect at startup

Miranda automatically returns to the state it was in when you last closed it.

If you want more specific options regarding start-up status, you can try this plug-in, but it might not work with newer versions since it hasn't been updated in a while.

The message windows to contain the history up to 10 posts before

Available in most SRMM plug-ins. (You probably want to use tabSRMM or Scriver, by the way, since the old one is ghetto.)

For classic SRMM: Options > Events > Messaging Log, 'Load number of previous events' (set to 10)

For tabSRMM: Options > Message Sessions > Message Window > 'Message log' tab, 'Load number of previous events' (set it to 10)

For Scriver: Options > Message Sessions > Messaging Log, 'Load number of previous events' (set it to 10)

The history log to be displayed as a chat, not as "incoming message" "outgoing message"

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but probably one of the history plug-ins can help you. History++ is the most popular. There's also a new one called Newstory, but i haven't used it and i can't find it in the FL (probably still in beta or whatever, so it'll be on the forum).

Emoticon sounds?

Not yet possible, i don't think. :(

The first thing you have to decide is how deep you want to get into Miranda. You can go the stable route, or you can go the unstable route. If you go the stable route, all the plug-ins and stuff that you get are available from the File Listing on the Miranda site, and the Miranda core is available off the front page. Updates come slowly because they try to get rid of all the bugs before releasing them. A lot of that stuff is out-dated, though, and some of the newer plug-ins don't show up at all in the FL (or even work with the stable Miranda core), so if you need the bleeding edge you'll have to go the unstable route.

Which is... downloading the nightly version of Miranda (from http://blog.miranda-im.org/), which is considered 'unstable' because they're still working on it. Stable enough for most people though. Then, try looking at this thread on the Miranda forum, because many of the newer plug-ins (My Details, for example) are currently only available on the forum.

Also, whatever you do, make sure to download the Updater plug-in. It makes finding new versions of plug-ins a lot easier.

ive been trying for ages now to get miranda working properly around a month i just cant work it out.. if someone could just send me there folder with a skin applied , ie view , tabSRMM etc. i would be grateful PM or Email me if you could do so, thanks.

-skit.

How do i exactly configure IEview, cause i see no changes reflected... Also, i tried running tabsrm, but it says i need dbx_3x.dll version 0.5.5.1... i have 0.5.5.0.1... Wasn't the updater supposed to do this ?

Updater won't update the database because it comes with Miranda. If you need a new version of the database, you have to download one of the nightlies (see my post above for the link).

IEView, umm... i don't know, what exactly are you trying to do? What messaging plug-in are you using if not tabSRMM?

Ok... this is going nowhere fast ><

I only managed to get some sounds sofar...

Does anybody know of a good step-by-step tutorial?

TabSRMM ain't workong, i have no idea what IEview is used for, i can't use any smileys due to the fact i can't find the options to select them...

Sorry for bothering, but i'm trying to make this work :D

Why don't you just download the latest nightly, it includes the newest version of both the database and tabSRMM. IEView (which is used to style your message log with HTML/CSS) will work with the new tabSRMM, and SmileyAdd will work with both of them.

Anyway there are 'guides' in the 'Collection of Essential Guides' forum.

Ok, now I really need a guide for that. A lot of the guides before say when installing IEView "Install the plug-in by putting it in the plug-ins folder" But what about the other folders that IEView comes with? A really noobish kinda guide would kinda help, Blaze. I really, REALLY love that Miranda you have going on there ;) .

EDIT: I see you are using aim there, and I too have aim. So if no one else requests a guide, mind telling me over AIM?

I've recently reformatted, and i'm trying to bring Miranda back to its former glory but i'm failing miserably. I install the latest client, then IEView, then tab_srmm fine. But when i stick the Modern Contact List dll in the plugns directory, Miranda doesn't appear to recognize it. It just doesn't show in the Plugins list in the Options menu. Any ideas?

I dont know about you guys, but for us that are not hardcore miranda users, i think it would be nice to have some sort of section at miranda, or here, that is just a place for people to upload their miranda folder. I know people can point you into the right direction, and get the clist, and the ieview, and all that, but it never seems to come out the way that some of the great artists have it set up here, i just think it would be a lot easier for people to just upload their miranda folder, zipped up, and then that way, people can get the same feel as some of the great people here have. Just my opinion, and im sure some other people would agree to, as most of us do not no how to customize it in the fantastic way you guys do..just a sugestion

A member at Miranda's forum is currently trying to set up a site where people can upload screen shots of their Miranda configurations. I think (if he actually does it) that he plans to allow people to upload 'packages' like you're talking about. It'd be easy enough now that the RemovePersonalDetails plug-in is available.

Miranda will never officially do this, though. Their stance is that people who aren't 'hardcore' Miranda users shouldn't be messing around with IEView and nightlies and stuff like that in the first place. They actually frown on people directing novice users to the more advanced stuff.
