I'm still not able to download.

If you are trying to download from me, then no, you probably wont be able to, as my server is mad at me right now from the extreme load and refuses to work properly at the moment. Like I said above. It will be fixed by June 1st when I upgrade my server (need time to get new parts...). :)

what kind of hardware/ethernet your server runs on now?

It's a poor man's server right now, lol. Here's the current specs:

Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz

1GB RAM

1x 80GB HD

1200GB bandwidth

100Mbps port

New server will be (which is about the max I can afford for the time being):

Intel P4 2.8Ghz with HT

2GB RAM

2x 80GB HD

1700GB bandwidth

100Mbps port

I at least hope it will withstand most of the pressure. I may need to go dual CPU with some SCSI drives, but I doubt I can afford it. We'll see what happens though. :)

That's my box.... but with unmetered 20mbps.

Now to just keep the stupid people from causing problems like they did today (which made it go to a crawl).

Any suggestions that you may have that I already haven't taken to help keep things optmized and stabilized, please post them as I would be highly interested. :)

The box has no cpanel or anything like that, and mysql is for some other sites, I also have 1000 connections... php isn't being run, .html's are your friend.

Well, due to security reasons, I can't have direct links to my files, nor are they even located in the public_html folder, and which is why I use PHP to get the files. If you know of a better way, please let me know, as that's all I've tried. Thanks. :)

My server does have cPanel/WHM and a few other things, also with another project just as popular as this, so there's lots to be considered in why my server can't handle the load. :)

Hello,

i got message after installing Autopatcher May 2005 that my Internet Explorer isnt default explorer, and asked do i want to make it default. I just wanted to open some website, like windowsupdate. But that message was only for a first time, after that no messages about some other explorer ;d

Hi, me again.

Since I use SP1 and I don't want to use SP2, I need to get AP XP Aug 04? That's last one for SP1? Right? After that one, I just have to install latest one AP XP Lite, and everything should be fine?

From January 2005 every new version is cumulative?

PS:

Is it possible to make non-attended install little more user fiendly?

Why dont you use SP2?? its a major critical security update!

The only situation where you should not use it is in a corporation that uses custom made software that isnt yet compatable, in which case you should get that software compatible as soon as possible and upgrade.

You may be able to dig up a link to the old Aug04 release somewhere.

You could also run the latest release for XP SP2 which will have a few that apply to SP1.

However even after running both youll still have to visit windows update to get the rest.

Every new release, unless it contains 'update' in the title, contains everything in the previous release.

So yes there cumulative.

guys.. before you read on i'd like to say i haven't done research b4 posting, so please forgive my ignorance, but..

it takes so long for autopatcher (lite).. it seems quicker to run the windows update website over my cable connection lol :/

and also then.. slipstreaming ryan's update pack.. the one some of you talked **** about.. it only has to be done once and then you have a ready cd.. i seriously don't understand what (and yes, how) would prevent anyone installing a future windows XP SP3 over an SP2 + ryan's pack slipstreamed installation.. basically what i'm saying is that there is no need to even consider autopatcher? no?.. well you know what they say about opinions ;)

but autopacher runs way beyond too cool and it's like a serious programming marvel, hats off to you wizard cat mofos for making history.. i just wish it didn't take 5 years for such software to appear.. i mean longhorn is just around the corner :( and then it's ssdd (same **** different day, dreamcatcher anyone) all over again.. figure out how they're trying to spy on us, bust us.. slip subliminal advertizing.. make millions off'ov (never could spell that) unaware beta-testers paying hundereds of dollars for unadequately tested software.. well y'all know what i'm talking about.. i wish linux would do something already, but that's a different story.. ;)

take it easy my good people, vladimir

    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
    • If the drive/memory is soldered to the board, which it probably is, then it's a no from me
