This beta driver adds full support of the OpenAL interface for Sound Blaster? Audigy? 2 and Audigy 2 ZS series internal audio devices.

Added Features or Enhancements:

    * Provides full OpenAL / EAX ADVANCED HD support when used with the DOOM 3 3 1.3 patch.

    * Includes EAX 4.0 support for the new DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil? expansion pack.

    * Improves performance of all OpenAL game titles, including Battlefield 2?.

Requirements:

    * Microsoft? Windows? XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.

    * Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series internal audio device.

Notes:

    * THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. We recommend that only experienced users install this driver.

    * Make sure you uninstall your existing Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS driver before installing this beta driver.

    * Do not install this driver for an external USB Sound Blaster audio device.

    * Some Creative applications such as Surround Mixer, THX Console, and Creative MediaSource? may not work properly with this beta driver.

    * Refer to Readme file for more information.

Installed on my SB Audigy 1 Win2ksp4 just fine.

Extracted the SETUP File then went to: Drivers ---> Setup

Anyway, to everyone that installed them, did you install right over your current drivers or did you take the time to uninstall your old set of drivers?

I uninstalled my old ones first.

Also, just a note.. You can get the control panel if you copy CtCtlPan.cpl, CtPanel.exe, and CTPRES.DLL into your \windows\system32 directory.

gah, creative and BETA in the same sentence? I'm not too sure about these. I want to install but I don't want to have everything go to hell as it has in time in the past.

edit: Installed. The installer crashed and cthelper gave me an exception, but it still worked. It semi worked. For Creative, semi work is good enough I guess.

I installed them.

Told me to reboot.

My system rebooted, and restarted it self.

Got to windows and told me it had recovered from a serious error due to a hardware driver.

Everything seems ok now, though. :)

Installed on my SB Audigy 1 Win2ksp4 just fine.

\SBA2_BETADRV_US_2_05_0000\Drivers\setup.exe

Use WinRAR or 7Zip to unarchive the .exe file

Then run \Drivers\setup.exe

i have no idea whats the diff if i uninstalled the windows drivers then reinstalled so i just installed over it. and it works great to what i hear none of those funny bugs mentioned above. :alien:

So once the new patch comes out, I can run the highest sound quality and FPS will still improve since I have an Audigy 2 ZS? Running EAX doesn't slow down FPS at all if you have a good sound card?

correct. A good sound card, such as the audigy's will process the sound themselves relieving the cpu of the task.

Technically, the Audigy series of cards do not affect your FPS because they use no CPU cycles to process the sound (this coming from a Creative representative I've talked to at work).

I see... well when I play Call of Duty and I enable EAX (any version), my FPS severely drops and makes the game unplayable until I set it back to the crappy sound settings for some reason. :huh:
