Yeah, G, dats gangsta!

Anyway, if gas prices keep climbing and break the $3 barrier this summer, I'd really like to see how many of these things are actually rolling around by next fall.

And to the original poster topic starter guy...thank your dad for me for being one of the one of MANY SUV owners who are doing absolutely nothing in helping the cost of gasoline and oil in general. Brilliant.

I don't like the Cadillac Escalade. More often than not people who own one put moronic chromed "spinnahz" on them or lame, extremely loud sound systems. I really don't want to hear your so-called "music" when you drive past my car.

I find the SUV itself ugly, but its the tasteless target audience what I strongly dislike.

You do know that there is TONS of oil and thats just some bull excuse to raise the prices? Alberta has sooo much oil its unbeleivable, IRAQ isn't our main supply of oil. Again, its just a stupid excuse to raise the prices.

SUV owners are not effecting cost of gas or oil at all.

Not to rain on your parade, but why does your dad need an SUV with a V12?

585751839[/snapback]

Well, the same reason everybody, they want it. Not to sound like a jerk. But its the truth. As for the gas mileage. the 6L V8 only gets 12.5 Miles per gallon as it is. I couldnt imagine what it is here. And, i see alot of people driving SUV's here in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. I guess it depends on where you live.

Now about the argument of the enviroment. Look at the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. Its got a V12, not argument over that. The BMW 760i has a V12, no argument over that. And now, what about the Tractor Trailors that are spewing out black smoke. How can you say thats not ruining the envrioment. How ever on the other end of the spectrum, yes the V12 is a little extensive, but if you can afford it and you want it, then why not. As long as you find a use for it and you can pay for the gas. As for the uber loud stereos. Its mostly a phase, im only 14 my self, and ya i can say that when i get a car im going to put a sound system in it. But i cant see myself being 30 with a sound system in it.

Just my Two Cents

no, its because they are stupid and insecure. the fact is, you can get a MUCH nicer car that is more efficient for less money.

BTW, my uncle lives up in canada and he has an SUV for hunting, so he actually uses it. on the other hand, i refuse to enter his house because hes got stuffed bears nad ear and other animals all over the place :x

You're couldn't be more incorrect regarding SUVs effecting gas prices. It boils down to a simple supply and demand problem. The more people use something they want, the higher the price goes, until it stabilizes demand.

However you are absolutely correct in terms of Iraq being a very minor oil import for the US. The US gets approximately 4% of its oil from Iraq; 17% comes from Canada.

No offense taken. I honestly don't understand how anyone perceives a lower self-sustainability as being more desirable. If it's about status, some people need to realize the truly wealthy people don't live like that.

For example, my grandma was taken to school everyday in a chauffeured Rolls-Royce, but to do that today would be laughed at. Times change. Large SUVs were hot in the early 90s...a result stemming from the exposure of Hummers in the Persian Gulfwar from '91. The popularity peaked in the late '90s, but now are well on their way out.

NOTE: Custom hybrids are what's currently hot in the circle of the truly wealthy.

Well, Its a small town the Rolls Royce may seem weird. But if you live in the correct area then it is socially accepted. My dad sells high end homes, the houses he sells ranges from $400,000 to $13,000,000 (canadian dollars) So the town is full of rich people. So driving an escalade would be socially accepted.

My dad isnt a small guy, so i couldnt exactly see him driving a custom hybrid.

btw- here are the homes if you dont belive the price range that i stated. Fathers Listings.

A V12?? All I can say is who ever buys that better not complain at all about gas prices. They know what they are getting into. lol.

Someone I work with had to sell her giant '02 Chevy Suburban couldn't afford gas. And a friend of mine just started driving his dad's spare car, a '88 Chevy Cavialer Wagon because he can't afford gas on the Chevy Blazer he just bought two months ago.

the prius has more leg room than our BMW X3(dont call me a hypocrite, i bitched about it, but my mom really wanted that X3) so i dont see how that could be a problem.

however, what is "in" right now are crossovers which are like a cross between an SUV and a station wagon. they too are pointless, but w/e.

as for the Rolls, i wouldnt mind going to school in a rolls royce, but i wouldnt want to drive one though, someone will key it :p .

also, you dads company sucks. they think opera 8 is an "old browser." my ass.

The 'small town' I was referring to was London.

And please don't try to misdirect the point...no one is claiming it's socially unacceptable to drive/own an SUV. What some people have said (essentially) is that it's no longer thought highly of in most circles.

And if you want to make this a penis contest, this is (honestly) the residence of my great-grandfather's #1 client: LINK

Finally someone who thinks the way I do. :pinch: :punch:

I don't see the point in SUV's. All I see them as is Urban Assault Vechicles always going to the gas station. No one uses them to go offroad or haul stuff. Everyone who I see driving them gets out and pretends to be really important or cool.... I just don't see the point. Especially with gas prices like they are.

My dads company sucks just because it doesnt work in Opera 8. Maby in your oppion it does. But i think that Century 21 make take offence to that.

    • Not such a great deal, Ultimate, which gives you full 5080 features is $181.99 CAD per month, that's $2183.88 per year, I can buy the 5080 for $1809.99 CAD, then it goes up to $279.99 per month after the first billing cycle. Typical cloud rental, costs more than buying the hardware.

    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
