The Official Mac OS X "Tiger" Thread

Recommended Posts

Anyone else notice Tiger doesn't have Stuffit? I tried to open a sit, and wala, found nothing to open it with. Kinda not used to that.

Yep, and no IE either :p

Lots of peoples boxes actually arrived today, so support and hints will start appearing on other mac sites soon.

@WinMacLin

Yeah Safari RSS is great and I'm using that RSS screen saver too.

The mods might want to take a look at this btw:

On almost every os install of osx, they've had both, this is the first time I don't see them included.

It was fairly public that IE wouldn't be included. About stuffit, I always assumed that it wouldn't be on the beta's but be included in the final. If it's not in the final, it could either be that Apple is trying to drop people using the technology in favor of their own or Stuffit didn't have a stable release that would work in time for it to be included. I doubt Apple would hold back the release date simply to have stuffit installed.

Stuffit works fine for me. No problems what so ever.

I'm really beginning to doubt the fact you don't have any problems with Tiger whatsoever, but okay. Stuffit 9 Deluxe only seems to have problems with files within separate folders.

Im suprised people have already started recieving their copies of 10.4.

Personally, i'm waiting for the week after its released, a) because we all know that 9 out of 10 times there is a new release, it needs a few bugfixes etc, and b) because my college will sell them at a reduced price which is nice.

I'm suprised at the lack of built-in support for SIT files, but i can understand it to a point, what with .ZIP and .RAR being the dominant compression format these days, especially trans-platform.

No IE? Oh well...i personally never liked IE on my Powerbook, and i won't feel sad about the loss of a new version in 10.4.

Safari 2.0...hmmm from what i've read, a lot of people approve, a few dont. I guess i'll have to see for myself, the slowness and bad rendering put me off greatly. However, if its better, i could force myself :p

Okay so i rambled, but this is my first post, and i've been lurking a while and figured its bout time i post.

One question tho...can someone PLEASE elaborate on the new iSync, because from what i've gathered, i can sync between macs, which will be a bonus if i decide to buy a G5 in the next few months...

Cheers guys,

Deep Blue

I think IE and Stuffit weren't part of the OS itself, but on the System Restore disc's. I dont remember getting IE or Stuffit when i just installed panther on my iBook

Since when do they end build numbers in a letter? Panther was 7B85 or something, they have never ended in a letter before.
