Computer Controlling Itself

Recommended Posts

yeh at one point my mouse would get apparently stuck off the screen and then as you move it a tiny bit it would jump all over the place and click on random buttons. also saw this happen on some school computers. i would try another mouse (could even be the port on your mobo if the pcs old). i wouldn't worry too much about hackers unless it appears to be doin something specific.

Are you using a wireless mouse?

If you are, it's possible that someone near to you is using the same radio frequency and you're seeing your mouse move in response to someone else's actions.

Does the mouse movement look co-ordinated? i.e. are specific actions being performed or do the actions look random?

Random patterns suggest a faulty mouse or interference whereas specific actions suggest someone is remote controlling your computer.

Was there any resolution to this problem? I am running into the same thing with a machine at work, and it has me stumped.

I was reading on some other forums it might be a program called crazymouse.exe.

I have done a search for it and cant find anything on the machine called crazymouse.exe

Back to square one I guess

Also was anyone using a usb mouse? I have heard it only affects the PS/2 port and you can possibly by-pass the problem by using a usb

I noticed alot of pc manufacturers, Dell in particular, seem to be packaging crummy logitech optical mice and really shiny mouse pads with new pcs. If someone in their qualtiy assurance department took the time to test the combination they may find that sporadic behavior seems to result from this combination. I personally have diagnosed and corrected this problem at various client sites by removing/replaceing the mouse pad.

OK thanks for the tips.

Well the original mouse that had the problems was a standard ball mouse. I took it off today, and snagged the Dell Logitech Usb mouse that came with my laptop (before I read these responces....). It worked fine for about 30 minutes, then poof it was off and running and freaking out again.

I am running Norton 05, as well as Adaware and Spybot S/D.

I am thinking about going out and buying a new mouse, and if it keeps happening just returning it, then setting this machine on fire.
