what's above it now? might help a little.

here's something i did.

bar.jpg

the tool bars i'm using at the top are, Main, Personal, Page. i cleard everything from the Main bar then transfered everything from Address bar to make a copy of it. and i have Menu on toggle with a drop down list, so it's always off.

atm i use the default layout. tab bar, then toolbar.

id like it this way: toolbar, favorites bar, tabbar.

yeah, so do what i said above. in Opera set it for Main, Personal and Page bars. then remove everything from Main bar. i'm assuming that's the default address bar you have there, so just drag everything from it, to the now empty Main bar. then uncheck the address bar. you should come out looking just like i have mine except i have File/Menu toggled off.

ok makin some progress right now.

here's what i got so far.

now: how do i removethat annoying thing that pops up when accessing the address bar? and how do i put my favorites into a bar?

edit: got the fav toolbar working.

that would be the Start bar, uncheck that in the customize area.

right click - > open in background?

also if you are moving from mozilla or IE, i found this page on the opera site to be awesome: http://portal.opera.com/startup/customize/

keyboard maps especially

EDIT: as goes the cookies, kiwi (cookies kiwi - sorry, just had to do that), choose not to delete new cookies while exiting opera.

you might want to tweak your cookie settings to be say 'first party - accept all, third party - refuse all'

Ok people I need help also how do you all get the bookmarks to appear as a toolbar and not as a sidepanel? I want a toolbar acroos the top for my bookmarks....just like firefox can do.

Example:

opera.PNG

Also I figured out how to kind of have an adblocker in opera...kerio personal firewall has an ad filter in it.

EDIT: Also I do I move whole toolbars around? I want to move the tab toolbar to the bottom of the toolbars like the picture so the order is address then bookmarks then tabs. How do I do this?

1:

when you go into the customize tool bar area (right click address bar>customize) you'll see all the tool bars. check "personal bar". there will be default stuff on it, remove it. select ok. then open bookmarks and right click on one of the folders or links you want there. select properties and check "show on personal bar" for each of the items you want displayed.

2:

about getting that setup, follow what i told kiwi earlier by transfering everything from address bar to main bar, then uncheck address bar.

  • 4 weeks later...

Mine's not too bad - the great thing is, in my closed window list , I can go to any page and it will show up instantaneously (or damn close). I love Opera's memory caching, and IMO it is worth it for the benefits you get.

Edit: Sorry to stir up an old thread - I'm new here and was just searching through the forums and found this. :D

    • There is a lot of reasons not to use Edge but faster fixes and security updates is not one of them.
    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net problem.   This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s Edit: this may be what Californians see, I will confirm with our consent provider.
