How to get your warning level down?

Recommended Posts

Well, I would just like to know since noone will reply to my PMs. How do you get it down, because I have one from december that is keeping me from changing my name .....Admins?

starting that thread about how long you have been at neowin won't help

Dont feel bad, im at 100% warning level mate. I dont care tho. I dont want a name Change

100%? doesn't that mean you are suppost to be banned?

im at 80%.. and already recieved a 3 day suspension :( and then another 7 day suspension for making another account. lucky my warning level didn't go all the way up :(

ive smartened up, and watch what i say... so should everybody else. and since everyone was so kind to report me... i now report everyone

Quite simply, posting topics like this keeps your warning level up. Trust me, I know.

Keep your head down, stick to the rules and don't bother anyone. At all. That way, having a low-profile enables you to continue on as is - without any fear of having an increased warning level.

Put it this way mate, learning is part of life. You just have to try, try and try again. Alas, you need to get good - and get good quick. Otherwise your arse (just like mine) will be out of here.

I liked it there, is it possible for certain members, say Subscribers to have a setting to enable or disable it for their own viewing or something?

585824349

yea, good idea.

But really, who complained about that? And I do not see how there could have been that many people complain about it.

If you listened to that small number and act on their wishes, why not listen to the large number of users that has asked to start a new Opera sub-forum?

your stuck with your warnings, just as in life, you cannot erase your mistakes, no matter how much you have actually changed. Its a shame isn't it people actually have to pay for their crimes (i know, but its the best word that i could come up with)

You dont... people complained it cluttered the interface.

So its gone now.

Yeah a few crybabies bitched till it was taken away, they didn't have enough sense to realize only they could see there warning level. I liked it myself.

The warning level used be viewable under your name and avatar in each post you made. People who had warnings complained that they didn't want to be reminded about it every time they posted, so it was removed from there, and you could then only see it when you viewed your profile.

However, I believe after Neowin upgraded to IPB 2.0, it was temporarily placed back under your name and avatar, until the decision was made to ultimately not allow members to view their own warning level.

From that day forward, and it continues this way even today, you must PM a Mod to find out your warning level. I believe you will also find out when you receive a warning. Otherwise, if you have never received a warning, then it should be at 0%.

As any Mod will currently tell you, there is no way at this time for your warning level to go down. The only time a warning is removed is when it was given in error, or if two Mods happen to be giving the same member a warning for the same offense and not realizing it until they hit submit. Your warning level is your report card or permanent record on Neowin.

Finally, your warning level being at 0% doesn't mean you are free to screw up a few times before you get a ban, and being at 100% doesn't equal an auto-ban. A ban can be placed on your account at any time, regardless of warning level, depending on the severity of your offense.

The simple solution to never having to worry about this is to just follow the rules. Neowin's rules are by no means strict, and no, the Mods do not have any personal vendetta against any particular member. They are doing their job and are fair and impartial to all the members as a whole, for the better of the site itself.

By the way, a lot of what I posted is actually common sense, but for some people, unless you type in black and white, and put it up for them to read, they won't get it. I'm not making this up either. This is all coming from what the Admins and Mods have all said in the past.

Same here, I actually think it would be a good additon to the Subscriber thing, having a option button or PM a Mod/Admid to enable or disable it on request.

Of course, im not sure if it is possible for certain accouts to be have this and others not or it might just be global on/off settings - I dont know.

Maybe a mod could forward this suggestion?

seeing as they aren't always warented and are more of abuse of powers.

585824412

Yeah since we love to abuse our powers all the time.

Why do people think that??? ****ed they got warned for breaking the rules?

I've searched a lot of warns and never once did I think it was an abuse of power.

I don't think the mods abuse the warning feature, and the level meter doesn't really matter one way or the other, I liked it and I always felt if I got a warning then everytime I started to post a hateful or bad comment that little reminder over there might make me think twice, could possibly save me from getting banned. Just my thoughts about it.

    • Glow 26.10 by Razvan Serea Glow provides detailed reporting on every hardware component in your computer, saving you valuable time typically spent searching for CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and other stats. With Glow, all the information is conveniently presented in one clean interface, allowing you to easily access and review the comprehensive hardware details of your system. Glow provides detailed information on various system aspects, including OS, motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card, storage, network, battery, drivers, and services. The well-organized format ensures easy access to the required information. You can export all the gathered data to a plain text file, facilitating sharing with others for troubleshooting purposes. No installation needed. Just decompress the archive, launch the executable, and access computer-related information. Glow runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit versions. Glow 26.10 changelog: New Features The bootstrapping algorithm has been completely redesigned. The software can now launch directly without requiring TS Preloader. As part of this change, the startup splash screen displayed during initialization has been removed. In addition, spikes in CPU usage have been eliminated, resulting in a more stable architecture with significantly lower memory consumption. The Microsoft Office detection infrastructure within the Operating System section has been enhanced. Additional detection support has been added for Office C2R (Click-to-Run) installations. Furthermore, the license status evaluation system has been improved, and the priority order has been revised as follows: Licensed > Grace Period > Other (NOTIFICATIONS, EVALUATION, etc.). Glow now includes preliminary support for Wi-Fi 8 technology, allowing more detailed information to be displayed for Wi-Fi 8-compatible network adapters. Glow now provides full support for Bluetooth 6.2. Adapters supporting Bluetooth 6.2 can be analyzed in greater detail and with improved accuracy. The disk distribution view in the Disk section has been modernized, replacing the traditional table layout with a new 2×2 card-based design. The TS Custom Controls module has been updated to v26.7. Thanks to the new custom controls, all Türkaysoft applications now offer a more modern and consistent user interface aligned with Windows 11 design standards. Bug Fixes Potential line-ending handling issues in the Office detection code within the Operating System section have been resolved. Additionally, the output format has been standardized to UTF-8 to prevent character encoding issues and ensure consistent data processing. Several stability and file management issues within the Debugging infrastructure have been addressed. Problems that prevented new log files from being created after Debugging was disabled, as well as issues causing debug records to be lost, have been fixed. File deletion and reaccess issues that occurred after file locks were released have also been resolved. In addition, a bug that caused newly recreated log files to remain locked after deletion has been eliminated. Unnecessary blank lines within debug logs and the extra empty line that could appear at the end of log files have also been corrected. A shortcut key conflict caused by assigning identical hotkeys to both the DNS Test Tool and the Donation page has been fixed. The DNS Test Tool can now be accessed using CTRL + Shift + D, while the Donation page is available via CTRL + Alt + D. Changes The service responsible for providing the Public IP Address and Internet Service Provider information in the Network section has been updated to use the ipinfo.io infrastructure. This change improves the accuracy and consistency of the displayed data. (No external requests are made while Hiding Mode is enabled.) Some terms in the Dutch and Korean language files have been updated to make them clearer and more user-friendly. [TS Updater] Before the update process begins, users are now prompted to choose whether they would like to view the release notes. Note: Always unzip the program before using it. Otherwise you may get an error. Download: Glow 26.10 | 1.8 MB (Open Source) Links: Glow Homepage | Screenshot | Github Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
