Playing basketball someday most of you have recieved a quick hard pass and received it wrong and your finger turns back. A few minutes later its all swelled up. This happens to me alot so im looking a way to reduce it.

What could be some ways to reduce/prevent it? (besides recieving passes correctly)

Another thing, is there any way to heal it quicker? lol I cant do some things since its my index finger. BTW I dont go to the hospital or anything for this. I just let it go away by itself...

(BTW; Now that I think of it I dont know if this belongs in Sporting or General...)

I know you said besides the receiving the pass correctly, but that's going to be the ONLY way to prevent it. You should be cradlign the ball when it comes to you by letting it hit the base of your hand and then quickly clasping around fingers onto it.

If its a fast as hell pass its bound to happen.....Your thinking with your mind rather than your hand and you slightly put it below where the ball is going your finger( s ) snap back and pow instant injury.

I play ball quite regularly. I'm telling you, the only way to avoid it is to receive it properly. It's an instict and a hand-eye coordination skill that you have to give time ot become natural. I used to jam my fingers all the time, but as I got older and more controlled of my body, I was able to figure out what the hell I was doing wrong.

Yea man I played ball all through high school and college and your gonna get tons of jammed/sprained fingers and ankles. Like bangbang said the only way to keep this from happening is to catch the ball right. It's all hand-eye coordination...it becomes an instinct. Don't think about catching just do it. You just have to tape it up and play through it. After a while you'll start to even get used to shooting with a messed up shooting hand...which will help out some.

    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
    • Outlook classic is inherently better than new outlook, for a number of reasons. That said, if the only reason people need office is to read email, they should just use thunderbird.
    • Windows 11 is a big thumbs down from me. I used for a period of a few days while it was in insider and windows 10 was the main OS, and realised it wasn't for me. I am still waiting for Windows to be tolerable again, a shame as at one point I was very pro Microsoft.
