Google wasn't hacked... You know how browsers cycle through a bunch of addresses when the site you're going to is down, well that's what happened

www.google.com.com

www.google.com.net

www.google.com.org

from these three, one of them stand out

http://www.google.com.net

take a look for yourself

Is it just me or was Google Web Accelerator available for download before this whole incident:

http://webaccelerator.google.com/

Thank you for your

interest in Google Web Accelerator.

We have currently reached our

maximum capacity of users and

are actively working to increase

the number of users we can support.

Seems like nothing happened to Google or their servers, but someone with too much time decided to mess with some DNS servers.  :p

I pity the person who stuffed up, someone is in for some trouble if it was human error that caused it.

Must have been a DNS issue... no other explaination for it (or maybe DDoSed by web accelerator?)

Like to have seen the look on google-staff faces when their "users-online" counter dropped from the millions to the 0-100's

I?m wondering if one of the root DNS servers where hacked,

There are a few posts on different forums showing the DSN lookup for google.com being hacked, if that?s true I wonder how long before something like Microsoft.com gets re directed.

Hopefully someone will stand up and make an official announcement about WTF happened.

so google wasnt hacked? :unsure:e:

Nope does not look like it,

lol so many jumped the gun and said Google was hacked http://www.engadget.com/

I?d still like know who and where the DNS problem was, and if it was a hack or human error.

Would'nt this have something to do with it?

<Google pays $1 million for google.com.cn and google.cnb>

Google bought google.com.cn and google.cn for million dollars. which should be the record of domain business in China.

To launch a more localized business model will be more important than to buy a .cn domain.

Most of the well-educated Chinese users know the google.com domain well.

To attract new users, a domain in Chinese pingyin will be more acceptable for them. Yahoo launched a yisou.com for its Chinese search engine, which means the first search or "the one" search in Chinese. Sohu.com launched a sogou.com for its search engine, which means search dog in Chinese.

More promotions for google.com branding, a localized business mode, and a sub-branding domain as a plus, probably will help those guys in Google Shanghai office.

I was bored.....................
