Was just wanting to know what it takes to become a mod here on neowin (please note i'm not asking to be made a mod  ) just wondered how they're chosen.

Well, it probably takes more than 90 posts.

Other than actually knowing Neobond I guess it is just a matter of being a consistently helpful user.

not making these threads for one.

Be a good member, don't get in trouble, help out your other fellow members. Do those things and when there is a need for mods (happens at no set time or schedule) be lucky enough to have another mod think of you to recommend you for consideration by the Admins.

Not really much more complex than that.

Knowing staff has little to do with it. Most mods are nominated by the staff after showing they are here to help others and are someone cool to talk to. People are not picked on knowledge or overall skill, moreso, they are elected based on their contributions to the forums. Post count doesn't matter, kissing up doesn't work, and being a jerk gets you nowhere. If someone is mod material, they've most likely already been noticed.

Mods are volunteering their time to make Neowin better. We don't want users kissing up and we don't want users causing us grief. Just do your little bit to make the world Neowin a better place. Show respect (not just to the mods but to all users and all opinions expressed here).

^^Before clicking on the thread title I knew something like that was coming...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think another factor is how much time you have available to spend modding? Cos if you only log on to check your email and post in the odd thread every 2-3 days, chances are you won't make a very efficient mod.

Yeah, that seems right. ;)

Don't listen to Armeck.  He got a mod by winning the Wendy's "So you wanna be a Neowin Mod" contest.  :p

If I wasn't so nice allow him to order his meal before, I would have been a mod instead of him :argh:

    • The level of stupidity at Google and Microsoft is beyond belief. All they are doing by killing this is forcing people to jump over to Firefox and ditch them all together, therefore giving Firefox the market boost it needs to finally crush them all in the end.
