Hey all, in the next few months I would like to buy a VW Polo 1.2 E (something cheapish to run and efficient). Preferably 2002+ models.

I would just like to know whether anyone here has something similar and would like them to give their opinions on the car in general. My budget is around ?6000ish, can push to ?6500 but I don't really want to go over that.

I would also like to know what VW's UK service is like for cars - how cheap/expesive are they and do they perform a good maintenance service?

Polo's aren't bad little cars, but as someone who's owned a few VW's (two Corrado's and now a MK4 Golf) my advice is stay the hell away from VW Dealerships and find a local VW specialist instead. Dealerships just don't care about cars.. specialists do, and they know what they are doing, and will save you a fortune in not only repairs & labour, but also extra costs as a result of dealerships incompetance.

I moderate on the UK's largest Corrado forum.. if you do get a Polo, hit me up by PM and i'll find details of some specialists in your area..

And for that money, you can get yourself a year 2000 or so Polo GTI... pre previous, much better looking body design, eager 1.6 16v engine, and superb factory spec including xenon headlights! :)

Thanks for that, however I am only 17 (18 in August, when I will probably be getting it) so insurance on a GTI or a Golf will be totally insane.

These specialists, can you get any old VW from anywhere and take it to them? Or have they got to be purchased through the specialist?

Oh.. ok.. yeah, a GTI would bust your as;);) I had my first Corrado at 21 (2.0 16v version, insurance group 16) and I used to pay through the nose for that!

As for the specialists.. in short, no. Specialists are basically just a mechanic / garage service. My local VW specialist (who are held in exceptionally high regard here by VW enthusiasts in the UK) are Stealth Racing - visit their site (here) to get an idea of the sort of work and services I am talking about. Their labour rates are about half that of the genuine VW garages, and simply put they don't cut corners.. i'd never dream of taking my car to a VW dealership over these guys!

    • You pay just $100 per TB with this rare 4TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD deal by Sayan Sen SSDs and GPUs are incredibly hard to get nowadays due to high pricing. Discounts are quite rare which is why we report on them as soon as we spot a good deal. For example AMD's new 9070 GRE was finally up for sale at a very good price of just $500 thanks to a special coupon. Sadly that deal is gone but if you happen to be looking for a 4TB NVMe SSD and can spend around $400 there is a really good offer on sale that you should not miss out on as TeamGroup's 4TB G50 model is on sale for that that price which means you are only paying $100 per TB, a very good deal in the current market (purchase link under the specs table down below). The TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe SSD is a PCIe Gen4 drive and as such it promises to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s, helping accelerate game loading, file transfers, and everyday computing tasks. Since this is a 4TB drive you can use it for a gaming library to take advantage of things like DirectStorage. The SSD features an InnoGrit controller and SLC caching technology to support consistent performance. An ultra-thin, patented graphene heatsink is included to aid in heat dissipation. Get it at the link below: Team Group T-FORCE G50 4TB Internal SSD (TM8FFE004T0C129): $449.99 + $50 off w/ promo code SSF69668, limited offer => $39.99 (Sold and Shipped by Newegg US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.
    • Macbook Air is an appealing option, as are plethora of Windows devices with various different CPU's
