Okay, I made a couple more updates that I'll soon email to those who requested the theme. Please report any bugs on this thread so that I may address them.

*On the side, would anyone be interested in a Black LE with lil parts that would glow that neon blue that's used in LE5? Like say have the hover effects glow blue on the taskbar, programs list, tabs? This was just in my mind I don't know if it would interest anyone though.

@ArChAn9eL: Is it possible that you do a thin taskbar with compact start menu? Screen real estate is really precious to me as I'm on a 14" notebook. The old school smooth progress bar is a sweet add-on also :)

If someone could teach me how to make a compact menu that would be great, because as of now, I have nooooooo clue. As for making the thin task, I'm sure I can work something up :p

Open the theme up in resedit.

Then change the contentmargins from the places pane in the ini files.

For compact startpanel that is :p

To what values exactly? Or is that all I need to know? Well I'm way too tired to try right now being 1 in the morning and having class tomorrow. I'm passing out! Nights!

If you use your icons at 32x32 then you could set it to DefaultPaneSize = 0, 0, 58, 0

So bassicly it depends on how big your icons are.

the black mod is great so far. I miss the thin taskbar and titlebar, but it's your mod so i won't complain (i never complain anyway :p)

good job.

Don't worry I just finished the compact black. Enjoy it to your hearts content Mr. I Don't Complain :D Hope you are on my email list....

* OHH YEAH! I forgot to mention thanks to Capric0rn who gave me the values for the compact menu!

No problem :)

I forgot to mention that you have to change the values from the Userpanel and the Logoffpanel as wel.

You do? I don't see a difference though...but okay I'll adjust the values :D

*EDIT actually the values that you gave me don't match the original LE3's at all...I just left them as is, it's still compact so I don't see a reason to edit these values O.O

Well to those who didn't get my email, here's what I'm planning...

Okay, I'm going to be MIA for a while I go on a modding craze on this black theme. I plan to collaborate with a fellow Neowin member on making this a sick complete theme...as it isn't already (sarcasm). But yeah, here's the plan:

+ Add some other glow to the theme instead of just black and white

+ Implement more secksi radio, check boxes, those scrolly things

+ Fix up the startmenu's program list using Bant's techinque

+ I guess some other stuff that may come along the way

Welp just some FYI, ArChAn9eL OUT!

    • EU Commission explains why Siri AI isn't launching in the EU, and Apple is to blame by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple This week at Apple’s 2026 developers conference, the iPhone maker unveiled the upgraded Siri after more than a year of delays. The new Siri is now called Siri AI, and it's powered by Google Gemini models. While Siri AI is preparing to roll out to Apple users worldwide, the company’s EU customers might need to wait much longer before getting their hands on the new assistant. Shortly after announcing iOS 27, Apple said in a blog post that Siri AI is not coming to the EU anytime soon due to hurdles posed by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and other regulatory requirements. To comply with the DMA in the EU, Apple apparently needs to open Siri AI to rival assistants on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Apple has refused to do so, which has resulted in Siri AI being delayed for its EU users. The company argues that such a move would put users’ privacy at risk. In a statement to Neowin, a European Commission spokesperson provided more details about why Siri AI will not be rolled out to Apple customers in the region. The statement first noted that the DMA does not prohibit Apple from launching its services in the EU and that the company is simply required to comply with the law. The European Commission spokesperson added that, since Apple is considered a gatekeeper under the DMA, it is “obliged to give third parties access to equivalent features as they give to its own products. Because the DMA is precisely about giving users the choice to use the product they find best suits their needs.” Moreover, the spokesperson said the Commission has been in contact with Apple, though the company “did not develop proposals for DMA compliant interoperability solutions.” The statement also clarified that companies designated as gatekeepers cannot leverage their status and products, such as operating systems, to favor their own AI services. The first public beta of iOS 27 will roll out next month, while the stable version is expected to launch this fall following the release of the iPhone 18 series. It remains unclear when Apple will be able to resolve its DMA-related compliance issues with the European Commission and bring Siri AI to its European customers.
