Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire

I live in arizona and I've known this for quite some time...I also thought I had known it even before the news got all hyped up about it. I believe someone from his group went on the news and said what really happened but nobody was able to confirm his story...until now...of course I could be wrong..

Yes, it was discovered some time ago that Tillman died from friendly fire. Apparently the scene was even more horrific than you might imagine. This thread is a new story because now Tillman's family is publicly criticizing the army for their handling of the event. Disgraceful it was, but the army was trying to use Tillman in their PR campaign for the war because his story was such an inspiring one.

Isn't this extremely old news? I thought the Army admitted that a long time ago?

I think they did too. Tillman's family is now suing the U.S. Army for lying about how their son died, and how his death was portrayed as a heroic effort. The U.S. Army also apologized for lying to Tillman's family, but look to still be on the defensive.

The true details of his death were not made known until 29 May 2004

As others have said, the fact that the military misled the public is not a new story.
