dmd3x
Here are my specs: Win98 128MB SDRAM Celeron 300MHz 10/100 Ethernet 10/100 Broadband Router DSL Internet connection I do a lot of bulky transfers... Does anyone know how to get fast FTP downloads? When I download from http servers I get speeds up to 120k/s. On FTP, if I am lucky, I'll get 15k/s but then it usually dips down to 3k/s or lower. Thanks to anyone who helps me.
TommyTourettes
I don't think there's anything you can do about it. The FTP speed just depends on the connection of computer serving the FTP and what they have set as a max upload speed. I run an FTP myself and I have it set at 4k/sec max for each user, so even if they have a T3 connection, it will only go 4k...(Upload bandwidth sucks on my cable) Perhaps try a wider variety of FTP servers(try oth.net if you haven't, don't think that link is against any rules...) and a different FTP client(CuteFTP has worked great for years for me.) dmd3x
Is there also a max download speed (I bet there is).
TommyTourettes
Yes the FTP admin is able to set a max upload and download speed. The max upload speed for the FTP is the max download speed for the client(you), and vice versa.
