Moving to AMD 64 bit, what motherboard do I chose?

about the rails on the power supply.... u can get a 500watt power supply with 12v@34A for 50 dollars... and its a really good power supply.... check it out.. for all of u who want a good power supply for cheap..... plus the fan speed control and shiny black finish make it great also! :laugh:

I wouldn't exactly say Rosewill makes good PSUs. Their 500W has 26A and their 550W has 34A. Interesting, isn't it, how they don't say whether it's normal output or peak output?

And isn't it also interesting how they have no voltage regulation or voltage ripple specs?

Verdict: Until they give me some real specs, I'm going to hold off on recommending Rosewill power supplies.

Edit: I was reading the PSUs under the performance list, not the Extreme list, but the Extreme list seems to be no different.

Edit2: 1 year warranty as well? That's not so good.

I just quickly skimmed through the thread, so forgive me if I missed anything :)

Here are my recommendations for a 64-bit system based loosely around your specs:

Motherboard: DFI Lanparty nF4 SLI-DR or Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or 3800+ (3500+ is closer to your spec'd speed)

Memory: A gigabyte of any reputable RAM from Corsair/OCZ/Mushkin/Crucial/Kingston/PQI/Ultra. Dual-channel and DDR400.

I don't know the difference between socket 754 and 939

Socket 754 is the older AMD64 socket standard. Don't get this, because it's basically been phased out already. Socket 939 is AMD's newest and current standard and will probably last quite a while. Get this.

      And I just bought a seat cushion for my mesh chair. The chair feels nice but the first time I sat in it with boxers, I realized I don't like the feel of mesh on my legs. 😂

If you are looking for a GPU for 1440p gaming that's around the performance of the Nvidia RTX 5070 you should most definitely check it out.
