looks great man, love that creamy coffee goodness. couple old "tricks" (uhh, for their time? heh) were brought back in this one and i'm diggin em, definitely classic, one of the best themes ive seen from anybody in a very long time. its too bad none of these ever stay on a desktop for very long, not mine anyway.

minor trouble w/ the explorer toolbar dropdown buttons... just a shadow inconsistency, dunno if it really detracts from the experience.

wordemup, good work

It is a great theme, and the start menu is perfection. My only problem is with the menu colors. By that I mean the bit behind the buttons. It is this dirty brown color [pic 1]. Personal preference I know, but I prefer if it would be white, or near white like the Mono Blue substyle in HmmXp [second pic]. Of course there will be those who say just use Mono Blue instead. But I can't be the only person who doesn't like that drab color on an otherwise excellent skin can I?

Keep up the good work though.

Thanks for the feedback :?)

Huge taskbar? I've been using Windows Classic, they are the same size. I guess I'd forgotton the size of most thin taskbars! I'll shrink it down on the compact version, along with the start panel.

For those who don't like the colour, RC1 isn't about colour - there will be a normal light grey version out in time.

Dude...calm down bose... cant u tell thats tongue in cheek?..look at his AV and title under it ..LMAO..hilarious , its just making fun..

altho.. i have bought a couple of his. I can see the work that goes into his Visual themes.

Seriously this is ok but its not much different in any one area than all the other Classic modifications.

Joke detector not working first thing in the morning after 4 hours sleep!

I don't expect everyone to like this. I'm not one for shine, gloss and hard gradients - a style favoured by W.

lol....sorry man, i couldnt help myself, i take so much **** around here its not even funny sometimes, i just like to have a little poke once in a while to keep me on my toes. We do have different styles , fortunately theres enough people that do like shine and glass and grads to keep me making more for my site. Think i may have a gander at making something Classic'y myself tho, way away from the norm for me, but u got me goin now so what the hey.. Perhaps u can come and hassle me when i post a screeny :p

Best of luck man.

Thanks :?)

Can you be more specific on the bug? I'm not sure where you mean (I'm at work so I cannot check).

thanks b0se, really appreciated..

2 bugs are the min/max/close button bug mentioned before

and the other one, the arrow looks off in the program menu , here is a screenshot:

I'm not getting that bug, arrow fits into the green hover bit just fine.

I am however getting the Firefox folder toolbar bug that someone mentioned earlier: 725buh.png

I'm also getting it a little in explorer too: 725e3a.png

I think the text on the programs start of the start panel would look better white with the mousover being dark but, with what you said about the inactive caption buttons you probably prefer how it is now so never mind, heh.

There was some other stuff but either someone already covered it or I just forgot, oh, and the Photoshop buttons looks good, heh. (Y)

Edited by Tsumana

Thats odd murderdoll, it is fine this end...

Tsumana, I will get onto those also, it should simply be the toolbar button content margins (probably all at 0). It is much easier to bug fix when people provide images, thanks to all (Y)

What do you guys/gals think of the Blue startpanel + green start menu item combo? I like the splashes of green used throughout the theme, breaks up the blue and keeps it fresh.

FYI: Might be a Winamp skin on the way...

    • It is silly there is no simple way to check whether this profile has been activated. CFRs are normal, but trying to even hide the fact if it's on / off seems silly, especially for something so user-facing. Surely Microsoft is "proud" of their engineering efforts on this one and ought to display it somwhere in the GUI.
    • Many Linux distros are not known for excellent battery life, so I'm not sure that is the best example. A more apt example may be Apple, but Apple's CPUs are simply far more efficient than Intel & AMD at single-threaded tasks like these, so "boosting" is not as power-hungry and less heat-inducing. Not to mention Apple will hardly engage P-cores for basic UI tasks; they use a pretty complicated QoS scheme to only activate P-cores for more serious workloads like HTML / JS execution or decompression or application launch. Microsoft is (smartly) doing it for launch, but also for UI tasks, which is the more nonsensical part: why ... do Windows 11's UIs need modern CPUs to boost? It should load so quickly that there's not even time for the CPU to boost.
    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
