Well hopefully this will not be yet another teenage-oriented product full of of commercial useless services trying to get you to buy stupid ringtones or horrible emoticons...Windows Messenger used to be the first app I 'd remove after a format, I've switched to it ever since MSN released the beta of MSN Messenger7. Too bad WM is about to die soon , and I dont have Windows Server installed to try out the Live communicator...

As for NDA breaking about this beta...well then they better stop releasing teenage products and gather mature testers who can actually assume their role... Cause quite franckly...most of the NDA breakers only are teenagers trying to be cool and are overexcited not to play by the rules...great...

Hmmm. Quite strange that Connect doesn't allow any one under 18 to sign up. Perhaps MS should do some background checks on its testers :pp

I think if they nuke all the fashion crazed teens from the beta program we'd have a decent IM program without any bullcrap winks (they're ANNOYING!), paid animated display pictures (like hell who would pay a buck for a friggin animated Flash character), and so on. It's an IM program. Use it to chat with friends, not to make money off garbage.

Oh, and we'd also get a better looking UI. I bet adults would be quite ashamed to use something that looks like a kiddle program.

Things that these 13 year old testers lack: responsibility, rules, the resistance to not boost one's e-dick, and plain common sense.

(this coming from a 16 year old that uses messpatch every time MSN Messenger is installed )

,Jul 13 2005, 07:29]a member in this forum sent me to his forum containing "MSN Beta 7.1.5" ... is this true?

Is there a version leaked or somthing?

586206453

Nope, not true. It is a closed beta that hasn't even started yet. Nobody knows yet what version they are going to be testing. Some say it is going to be 7.1, some say maybe 7.5. Stop being so gullable and just wait.

another power-crazy moderator flexes his e-penis... well done to you, mr american (Y)

586206815

Yeaahh.. rigght.

Whatever you say.

You have no idea about the members history and posting habits, and all he had to do to get this restriction.

So keep talking out of your ass.

Exactly, the mods on here suck now but there is not much anyone can do about but live with it.? God forbid they should actually do their jobs and control people from leaking the info about a beta that doesn't even exist yet and that the people whomay> be part of it shouldn't even be talking about.? But gee that might take some brain cells.

Well enough of my rants, back to life.?&nbs:huh:uh:

For your information, the beta invite I received does not contain an NDA. Maybe NDAs are reserved for people like you. Also, the information I shared on Neowin did not disclose any technical information about the beta program, it merely pointed to the fact that the beta invites had been sent out as was indicated by the title of the topic.

I am currently on three different beta programs: MSN; Windows Server 2003, R2; and DPM. I am not a newbie and so reserve your lecture to yourself. Get rid of your illegally acquired MS software, ala Longhorn, etc. and stop harassing Neowin members who are merely trying to share information on this forum. Besides, I could have linked directly to other websites, but what is the point if I wasn't disclosing any secret information? The same issue we're arguing about here has made the frontpage news on Neowin today 7/13 with full quotes from the e-mail, maybe you're going to take on the whole Neowin organization as a result?

That's right, NDA's are reserved for only a select few people on a team that's testing a new piece of software that hasn't been released and that's not meant for the general public. You are such a ######. Love for you to tell me what illegal software I have, since I currently have none. But that is an argument for another time. Are you asking for fight, because you seem to keep beating a dead horse and won't go away. I was done with you yesterday, I could give a rats ass what you choose to do with your information. The MSN team is aware of who has leaked the emails and the discussions going on at the more popular boards such as here.

I apologize to anyone reading this thread for the off-topic but this dude needs some serious advice. First of all, you're nothing but a hypocrite and a bad one at that. Secondly, you think you can scare me with the MS talk, but you're sooo fake you'll lie on a forum to get away with your point. I have no time for people like you and that's why I'm not going to respond to your childish posts. What are you, 11 years old? Isn't this what all this is about? Yes this is your post from another topic on the subject:

Us butterflies are a select group of testers from MSN products, we get selected based upon our particpation in the various MSN betas (MSN8/9, messenger, hotmail) sometimes there is an open role call such as the beta friends and family program they had last summer. Sometimes they just ask you for one program. We get 1st crack at MSN builds before the general public does. Hopefully I haven't said too much as I know we really aren't supposed to talk about

People like you want to deprive other people so you can feel good about yourself. I have news for you; Neowin is a community and as a community we share, be it the news or whatever else there is to share. That is what community is about. By the way you still haven't answered my question about the news story on the beta on the frontpage of Neowin today. As for being a ######, you are the biggest there is and you know it.

PS: Don't let me remind you about selective answering of questions anymore.

well its a 5 week testing period, its short in comparison to many other betas. I think it might just be 7.1 but thats a total speculation. I would think 7.5 would required upwards of 8 to 12 weeks of testing and more likely have few new features in it.

Little man, I am part of the MSN Butterfly community and have been for a long time. Whether or not you choose to believe me is entirely up to you. I can provide emails you want but something tells me that even those won't convince you. So oh well, I do know that I am part of the onecare live beta, I have already gotten my acceptence into it.

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
