You don't have to like it. But to not recognize the skill required to play Death Metal guitar is just plain ignorant.

And I pity you & your narrow mind.

You're absolutely right, I don't have to like it. Just like how I don't have to recognize the "skill" to play Death Metal guitar. Recognition, for me, is given where deserved, and I've yet to hear anything in that sub-genre that deserves recognition. Please don't pity me or my "narrow" mind. God forbid I like anything other than death metal. It's a ****ing shame my ears waste so much time listening to something other than Suffocation or Cannibal Corpse. Sorry.

HAHAHAHA NICE ONE.

You have like a skull for your avatar, and you don't like death metal? wtf?

It wasn't like a skull, it was. WTF?!?! Since when does the liking of skulls have any association with Death Metal? Just to appease you, I've changed my skull-tastic avatar to a retarded leaf. Enjoy!!

LOL Leaf :woot: ftw!

Cannibal Corpse  Brill death metal band :D

I'm waiting for Strapping Young Lad's new album The New Black due out in July. I've listened to some tracks and I like the direction that they're heading. Check out the sample of "You Suck" they have available.

I've heard the whole album. More singing than what it was in the heavy as a really heavy thing album. That was Brilliant. But it's changed now, older stuff in most bands is always top notch stuff.

True, but that was 11 years ago. :p SYL's always throws a bunch of crazy **** together randomly, that's why each album's different.

Hold on, I never said anything to the effect you should be ONLY listening to death metal.

Thats certainly not my only listening choice. I would encourage you and all metal fans to expand your tastes to include a very wide variety of musical styles (as well as non metal heads).

And I should maybe clarify my statements to some degree. Because I can admit there are many crappy death metal bands that can't play particularly well. But I would challenge you that before you dismiss Suffocation or Cannibal Corpse as talentless - try to play just one of either bands songs yourself. I had the same opinion many years ago of Death as well as Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse & I decided to see if I could rise to the challenge & out play those bands. And thats how I became a fan of these bands.

I do respect the fact that you say you haven't heard a DM guitarist "Yet" that impresses you. I take that as you're open to being impressed by one and not closed off to the notion that someone out there can impress you. But are you actively seeking out one?

Maybe Necrophagist would be the type of impressive guitar playing that would match your criteria.?

Just bought two lush tee's.

An At the Gates one with the Gardens of Grief cover design on it. The other tee was a Haunted one with '100% metal thrashing mad' printed on the back.

I got to wait as long as it takes to remember I bought them, for the delivery to arrive.

So i'm counting down now.

Going to buy Miasma this weekend and a few other good CD's on offer down at the mall. Sounds all good. Just got to go to work first.

Sorry to bust your balls about Death Metal. I just shun what I've hard because of the singing and disregard any music behind it. I love all sorts of metal, be it black, thrash, power (some), melodic death, southern. But I will defintely check out what you've suggested. I try to remain open minded.

On another note I just bought the remasters of The Somberlain and Storm Of The Light's Bane by Dissection. Even though I just heard of them a month ago, I love this band.

hmm... am i the only one awaiting the new album from Mercenary which, iirc, is due out later this summer?

aww c'mon. dont tell me im the only mercenary fan around here. theyre pretty good imo, from everblack to the hours that remain.(first breath isnt quite as good as the rest.)

Urm never heard of what genre are they?

*snip from their wikipedia page below. cause im horrible at putting into subgenres.*

Mercenary is a six-piece metal band from Denmark that combines both power metal and death metal genres, and in their earlier work thrash metal.
Yeah have to agree there. As I Lay Dying is the better out of too bands but The Autumn Offering still kicks out a good sound just i only like about 2-3songs from their albums as to As I Lay Dying i like 80% of the songs.
All a matter of opinion. I listened to some of As I Lay Dying and didn't like it. I like every single song by TAO.

I can't wait for the new Slayer album. Cult live last night was awesome. I guessed who did each solo and was right, I rule.

Nice i like death metal. Any sample songs?

yep. they have a full song or 2 from all of their albums except The Hours That Remain at their site. theyre only like 128kbps tho. but theyre the full thing so its not all that bad.

http://mercenary.dk/media.asp

also ill point out before hand. they use a bit of a mix of clean and screamed in alot of their stuff. so dont expect all harsh.

Oo Big boy. ;) You're so cool, seriously. I wish I was as cool as you but I guess I never will be! :(

I'm sorry, I forgot that skulls aren't associated with death in any way.

Oh my god, I feel special now, thanks very much great one!

go for Everblack or 11 Dreams then if you wanna hear a full album. you could also try the upcomming(not yet released) The Hours That Remain early too buuttt... the mods would hurt me if i said how.

    • So they saved ton of money by using AI resulting in loss of crap load of money in recalls and expenses. Bravo. Management needs to be replaced by AI, not engineers.
    • Ditto that, I have a few Alexa devices around the house to control lighting and such for a disabled person I live with, and it shows a *lot* of ads on the display. The dots are simple but effective. A lot cheaper too.
    • Go for a Echo Dot or Pop instead. These Echo shows just advertise to you.

NetSpeedTray v1.3.3: The Updater Fix A stabilization release that repairs a critical regression in v1.3.2: the app shipped without OpenSSL, which silently broke every HTTPS request — including the built-in update checker (the "Could not check for updates" error many of you hit). This release restores it, hardens the build so it can't happen again, and fixes a startup crash plus four other reported bugs. Changes: Fixed update checking — Resolved a critical issue that prevented the app from checking for updates ("Could not check for updates"). Fixed startup crash with Auto-Cycling — The app no longer crashes on launch after enabling Cycle display mode. Fixed incorrect network speeds on 10GbE adapters — Multi-gigabit network cards now display speeds correctly instead of being stuck at 0. Improved color coding — Default color is shown when idle, and color/threshold changes now apply immediately without restarting. Fullscreen visibility fix — The widget now correctly stays visible over fullscreen apps when Keep Visible is enabled. Improved AMD Ryzen temperature detection — More reliable CPU temperature monitoring for Ryzen processors. Cleaner upgrades — Installer now removes outdated application files during upgrades, preventing DLL/version conflicts while preserving user settings. Improved stability — Fixed potential DLL loading issues by excluding critical OpenSSL and NumPy components from UPX compression. Better settings window — Scrollbars removed and layout improved for a cleaner experience. Localization improvements — Updated translations and completed missing UI text across all supported languages. More reliable releases — Added regression tests covering recent critical fixes, bringing the test suite to 196 passing tests.
