I dont remember if i've mentioned 'Silent Civilian' in this 95pg thread yet, but if you havent heard them you need to check them out. The lead vocalist is Johnny Santos from Spineshank :punk: I saw them here in Cleveland last Weds and they were fantastic!

I'm going to see Trivium tonight at the same venue... should be a great show! Trivium kinda sold out i think, but i still like them. They put on great shows and i look forward to hearing some of their older stuff. Newer stuff i dont really care about anymore.

guys what is the difference between alternative and metal, PM as an answer, not because of anything but because i cant keep track of this thread :p

You mean alternative as nu metal, which is not metal, just radio friendly crap!

Korn, slipknot, linkin park, limp bizkit, kid rock, names that spring to mind. no talent what so ever!

So what does everyone think of the new MegaDeth? I was pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to see them this fall.

You can stream the first six songs off the main site. Sleepwalker is just a good old thrashy jam and Washington/Gears shows Dave can still put some growl into it. \m/

Has anyone else heard of The Lovecrave? I heard a track on totalrock.com and litterally bought the album based on that one hearing:

http://www.myspace.com/thelovecrave

It's pretty different, especially vocally, but I'm utterly addicted. 'Can You Hear Me' makes me want to scream my lungs out (mmmm inflames).

(I'm guessing it's probably not strictly metal, but that doesn't mean you can't love it!)

Also, an acoustic live session from totalrock: http://www.totalrock.com/podcast/LoveCrave.mp3

Where can I hear this new inflames track you speak of? :D :D

**** haha I cant believe this is still going, started this ages ago with my brother haha. woo! Havent been on neowin too much lately though

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just bought a whole bunch of instruments so probably will be uploading some of my own **** soon tell me what you think and whatnot.

Arch Enemy - Rise Of The Tyrant - Hard to say i'm 50/50 on this one, I've listened to it twice now but still not sticking in my head. Only a few songs on the album i really like.. maybe it grow on me tongue.gif
Have you heard the same cd I have? It kicks major butt! :p

I just checked out the new Atreyu album. I gotta say it's pretty good but it's alot different than their last albums. Not too metal, alot more rock oriented. Seems as though they are taking the Trivium approach and dropping the screams for singing. If I had to say anything about this band, it would have to be that they seem to be bringing back glam metal, with their catchy riffs, and lyrics, and slamming a few solos into their songs. Not too bad of an album.

i heard two more tracks from the new BDM album and this albums is gonna kick ass. So far it's alot better than their other albums. Started listening to At The Throne Of Judgement. Pretty good deathcore outfit, similar to As blood Runs Black, but more technical riffs and solos. Worth a listen.

And I'm still lovin' BTBAM's new album.

Well, here are the four current metal bands I like in no particular order, I have linked to all their Official sites:

Nightwish:

http://www.nightwish.com/

http://myspace.com/nightwish/

Falconer:

http://www.falconermusic.com/

http://myspace.com/falconermusic/

DragonForce:

http://dragonforce.com/

http://myspace.com/dragonforce/

Power Quest:

http://www.myspace.com/powerquest/

I also like a lot of the '80s metal bands as well, although it tends to surprise a lot of people that I like metal because I am a minority and people tend to think well you're this so you have to like Rap. Yes, I like rap...but only the stuff that came out of the '80s when I was a child; hell I love '80s music in general!

I've been listening to:

All Shall Perish - Price of Existence (AMAZING!)

August Burns Red - Messengers

Beneath the Sky - What Demons Do to Saints

Despised Icon - The Ills of Modern Man (AMAZING!)

Ion Dissonance - Solace/Minus the Herd

Job For A Cowboy - Doom (Didn't really like their new album)

The Showdown - Temptation Come My Way (AMAZING SOUTHER ROCK ALBUM!)

Throwdown - Venom and Tears (Not too sure about this one, trying to see if it'll grown on me. Its VERY Pantera esque, and a pretty dramatic departure from their previous releases)

metal sucks go metalcore or hardcore listen to bleeding through or minor threat or converge or man of the other good bands

Dude, you are retarded. You realize metalcore and hardcore have metal roots? By saying metal sucks, you just contradicted yourself. Why the **** would it be called metalcore? Lol, you ****ing 13 year old scene kids make me laugh. Go listen to Bullet For My Valentine and the rest of those trendy 'metalXcore' bands that are cool this week.

Na sorry but bullet for my crap emo is not even metal, EMO in my view. Hate that genre just like fake metal stuff.

Ahaha plus they did cover Metallica in kerrang!, just like lostprophets did with Davidian's Machine Head and a bunch of emo band. Pathetic.

Fake metal, 'nuff said.

    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
