I also get that problem with large progress bars, though for me I don't see all black, but it almost looks like I can see the border of a window.

Don't know if this is just a coincidence, but I have been trying a bunch of different drivers trying to get my (Nvidia Geforce4 4200 go) tv-out working correctly, and I haven't seen the malfunctioning big progress bar yet.

i would assume constant alpha blending would be simply setting a flat value of transparency as many programs can already do as apposed to the per pixel alpha blending which is what WB5 now does. (well, fakes.)

No only with WB5.

To change the start button you need to create the image with all the states (the msstyle image wont work) then save it as PNG and go to SkinStudio, start button and import the new startbutton.
