Doli
just use notepad to post your stuff, its not that bad when you dont. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+c, go to the forum, Ctrl+V.. its not that hard and takes little time (less than 3 seconds). I dont think this will be a major thing in the next web browsers because most of us will think the same thing, use something like notepad if you keep accidentally hitting the wrong keys or learn some control

Amnesia
people are giving him solutions on how to avoid losing a post by copy paste, note bad, etc.. but i dont think he's loooking for that. I know I'm not. He's hoping there is a way without having to load notepad every post, but for it to save up nicely is better.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted August 3, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 3, 2005 i have acidentally done this, like typing a post, firefox suddenly throws me back a page. but, when i click forward, my post is still there, where i left off. i think this is a case of IE lacking (although i'm sure it does it aswell) and, just to test, while typing this page in, i hit f5, post was still here, where i left off. basically, try not to refresh or navigate away, and type out long posts in notepad. even though it seems that browsers do this anyway. dukelion
What could be cool is a web browser having a notepad memory built-in to it, so every time you type in a field, a field like this, it logs it... although that wouldn't be great for security... and finding peoples passwords... haha
Angel Blue01
There should be a plug-in for this. I simply copy my text to the clipboard.
vcv
As stated, Opera does this automatically. It just works.
Fred Derf Veteran Posted August 3, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 3, 2005 Incidentally, I fixed the thread title: "Future bowser MUST Support this... PLEASE!" I was wondering if the next feature was tabbed barking. Bow, wow, wow. [Thread Title Edited]
Lare2
In FF if you deleted by accident i just use Ctrl+Z and that undo it. Not sure if that would work after a refresh :/
Bearded Kirklander
When a browser can actually intercept the signals my brain is intending to send to my fingers and store them in memory for later recall, then I think we'll have something. :p Seriously though, My F5 key is way, way out of the way from the normal keyboard text. I can hardly imagine accidentally hitting that key. And as others have stated, there are ways around it for long posts. Notepad is good for so many things, from web page creation to holding post contents. Save it to a temp file on disk in notepad as you work and you are good to go. I'm not looking to have my computer protect me from myself in any event. I have to take some responsibility for my own actions, including the dreaded F5 keypress... :)
