Fedorpheux
I have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner and the shifting knob is kind of dying and I was thinking about getting a new one. I looked around on ebay and some of the auctions said that they fit universally, but I was thinking that they could just be saying that to get me to buy their product. So, are virtually all shift knobs universal (as in i can take mine off and put on some other one that I buy off ebay or online somewhere) or are there different sizes and such? thanks in advance :)
bdsams Veteran Posted August 5, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 5, 2005 id be hard mouthed to say that all shifters from every manufactuer are the same size and fit, i doubt that highly..unviersal fit means they probably fit most stardard sized shifters or they are adjustable to fit..should be able to get the info from your dealer maybe online or a hanes manual
vraa
Universal fit pretty much means, most Civics and of the type. I would check to see with your dealer about your shift knob information and see what kind it requires. Toyota dealers are generally really nice about this and their prices are reasonable. If anything, you might be in luck and have the same kind as a Scion because Toyota does a lot of part sharing between their cars. If so, you'll be able to pretty much use almost any knob in existence.
Fedorpheux
okay, thanks for your help....i looked up a little bit online and what i found basically agrees with what you guys are saying....universal fit means that it will most likely fit almost all models....i noticed some knobs have several different kits to fit on the different sizes and such... anyways, thanks again :)

GreenDayPunk74
When I bought my knob it came with 3 size pieces. I screwed the tube thingy and then put the knob on.
