**It doesn't natively support 1280x1024, that sucks.**

1280x1024 is an incorrect resolution :)

1280x960 is the resolution they SHOULD support

BTW alot of these new games dont go higher because with vid cards nowadays and with AA, AF its not needed

The native resolution looks by far the best on a TFT/LCD monitor, which is 1280x1024 on my 17'' monitor.

I only see a video there.

No waiting time, I am at 155kb/s now my max is around 159 so not sure if it can go faster than that but it's a great connection and totally steady  At 39% right now another 43 minutes to go. Hopefully this will be better than then darned MP Beta.... that just SUCKED big time.

It's there guys... look a little harder. It's the second item down...

The only thing I'm really interested in for FEAR is the fear part. The game (both SP and MP demo) runs like utter crap on my computer at any detail level (a computer that runs HL2 max detail and Far Cry with ease) and I have to say that besides the special effects the graphics leave a lot to be desired at times (By the way, I mean mostly the textures and level designs by that). But the gameplay seems nice and tactical, and the storyline seems to be great. It was a very short demo though... and I would have liked something much more like the E3 demo from last year. If I had a better computer, I would probably enjoy this game a lot more.

Like I said though, I'm hooked more on the weird and creepy stuff (The Grudge style) which there is a lot of in the demo. I also seems reminicent of the Max Payne dream sequences...

My thoughts (copied and pasted from my post on another board):

Well, I played it, and there was a lot I disliked, but quite honestly, there was more I disliked.

For one, the game runs like crap, and it's not the prettiest girl on the block, either. The engine reminds me of a watered down Doom III (I had all the settings I could maxed without restarting -- basically all of them), and I just don't think it looks as good as Half-Life 2, personally. Playing the game reminded me of trying to play higher-end games on my old PC (700MHz, nVidia GF4MX), to be honest with you.

The enemies were somewhat smart, but there were just so many problems with them. For one, they had the standard 'I know you're in the vacinity, but I can't see you... but I'm still going to alert everyone that you're here' bullcrap. They could act intelligent at times, dodge, jump through windows, etc. But even when doing these activities, they weren't that impressive -- they just stood there and took damage while strafing, for the most part.

The weapons were pretty interesting (there are 5 in the demo, I believe -- a pistol, submachine gun, machine gun, sniper rifle/pulse rifle thingy, and a cool other gun that's quite powerful but I just don't know how to describe), which was definitely a plus of the demo. The coolest part of the demo by far, though, was the ending. I'm not going to ruin it, but you're assaulted by an extremely neat enemy and the demo ends there.

As far as the game being scary... well, I wasn't too scared. I wasn't scared by Doom III either, though, but even Doom III was scarier to me. I can see some potential for that, though, and there were a few surprising parts -- nothing that really got me going, made me jump or anything like that, though.

The worst part of the demo was less than a few minutes into it I uncovered a bug -- I went in some water and just fell out of the map. And then in another section of water I was literally walking on it -- couldn't go under it, even though there seemed to be an opening that I could see and possibly swim through -- I don't know if it was supposed to be an alternate path or secret area or what.

I guess, overall, the game has a lot of potential, but I was left wanting more. I think it's just in an unfinished state, for the most part. It's not a bad game, but I couldn't say it's better than most other shooters either. Maybe that's because it didn't run too smoothly (or look to good) for me, though.

i have had the worst luck in trying to get this demo. i just got wireless internet and it works but in the middle of the download it just stops downloading and wont continue and i am still connected to the internet. i tried transfering the file from another computer and when i got it onto my pc, the setup program wont run, so then i try running the program from the other computer and i still dont have any luck. then i have the idea of burning it onto a cd from the other computer. unfortunatly that computers cd drives are not being detected!!!!. i have been at this all night and i am just getting sick of it. i am trying to download it once more on my pc. its goin at 151kbs and is at 20% so it will be done in 45 min to an hour.

otherwise i heard that the demo is great.

Most LCD displays today are 1280x1024 native...

Yeah. A game with an engine so advanced that doesn't support 1280x1024 is crap. That's probably alright, because my 9800 Pro might not handle 1280x1024 at the settings I'd prefer to play at. I run at medium textures with everything else cranked @ 1024x768 w/4x AF.

this game is crap scary.. especially the end part.

to people that think i'm BS'ing.. try playing this game alone at night with the sound cranked up!

insane.. i'm DEFINITELY looking forward to this game.. but this is going to be a SP game only.. MP will be a whole other story... not really something i'd like to play MP.. seems like another HALO if its MP.

2 cents..

Well, after checking it out, I am not all that sure really what I think.

Part's of it were definitely creepy, especially the part where they ripped off the Max Payne Dream Sequence we all know and love, but other than that, I was slightly disappointed.

The only semi impressive thing was the pulse rifle or whatever it was called. The effect of seeing the bodies melt down to their skeleton was genuinely impressive.

I also felt the cutscenes were as sterotypical as could be, and almost seemed to throw the whole horror vibe of the game completely off.

Overall, It felt like of ******ized mix of the Source Engine and The Chronicles Of Riddick Engine.

After all of this, I am not all that sure really what I think. I do know for sure though I would have definitely preffered no cut scenes and a little more play time. I know it is a demo, but all of about 10 minutes worth of playing is just a joke.

Er , why is it asking me to install Dirext X 9.0C April edition when I already have it , it won't let me install the game cause I keep telling it not to install that.

same here. but i just clicked okay to let it install. its kinds laggy on my com. well not so lag, but im running it at 1024 x 768. my specs are pentium 4 2.4A, 1gb ram, aTI 9200SE...

    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.
    • They said by this time everyone will have flying cars. WELL...
    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
    • It is clear from this aricle that "Time Is On My Side" no matter which direction it is flowing., https://noai.duckduckgo.com/?i...m%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DsEj8lUx0gwY
