hmm i'm in singapore. too bad there aren't any mustangs here either but i doubt anyone would buy one cause of the insane fuel prices.

just found out the type R isn't imported here by the official dealer. so i guess either type S or legacy. my dad hates the design of the legacy even though it has such a good sound system.

ah well more car shopping it is then.

Actually if the Mustang is an option for you, definatley go for it!

I rode it in once, belongs to a friend of my dads, very comfortable, fast and sounds great, great looks too. It really turns heads cos its not out in the UK yet

Edit: feul comsumption is'nt that bad, I was told its 20+ to the gallon

What about a Merc C-Class Coupe as sporty car, then your Mum can drive it too 'cos Mercs have the best Auto boxes in the world.

My Dad has a Diesel one for the weekends and it blows Civic Type R's away and sticks to the road as good as my Uncles Evo 8 MR400 (It has wider tyres, LOL!).

No way is any C-Class coupe faster than a Type-R, especially a diesel one...

The C350 (which is currently top of the range) is only just as fast to 60mph as the current Civic Type-R (at 6.4 seconds).

The C220CDi (which is the fastest diesel model) is 4 seconds slower, at 10.3 seconds for the manual, and 10.5 for the auto. The C200CDi comes in at 11.7 for the manual and 11.9 for the auto.

That makes both models slower than my BMW 118d, and they are more expensive... So, it's not a quick car at all.

There is only 1 better sporty Honda and that is the Integra Type R. From your comments you sure have not driven a Civic Type R at all.

To be blunt the RX8 is a bit of a girls / hairdressers car and it no where near matches the RX7. I would still go for the Civic Type R and it has won many awards to justify itself as a great drivers car.

Obviously you haven't heard of the Honda S2000.. way better than the other 2 cars you mentioned and the only Honda I would ever consider buying.

About the Honda Type R.. BIG NO!

"The Volkswagen GTI.. it's heavier than the civic Type R, slower than the civic, and 4 grand more than the civic... The big question is: Should you buy one over a Civic Type R? *chuckles* you bet you should!"

-Fifth Gear

"Lemme get this straight.. the Honda Civic Type R is faster and significantly cheaper.. and you're still saying the Golf is the best, eh? Yes, because if you buy a Honda you end up w/ a Honda.. Where as if you buy a VW you don't.. If you take everything into consideration the Golf is a much better car."

-Top Gear

I think the RX-8 is a really nice car.. That would be the car I'd choose in that price range. Very capable.

it may be nice, but definately no room to be carrying around a golf bag.

dude stock for stock my Escort out does a C230 Kompresor in autoX AND stratight line, they are a POS. I beat me friends daily.

oh man now my dad hates the RX-8. what is up with him!?!?!? anyway i'll still push him to get it. we're also considering second hand mercedes e class and bmw 5 series and the new bmw 3 series.

3 series is an awesome car but you'd have to go for the 330 to match the performance of the RX8

A Civic Type R will keep up with a 330 BMW and proven too just check each cars 0 to 60 times and top speed, not bad for a N/A 2 litre engine.

One of the 'requistites' for your fathers car was the ability to carry a golf bag.

Almost every car on the market today is designed to be able to do that...

woah how did you even know that i couldn't remember mentioning it

hmm i'm still trying to get that RX-8. anyway now we're looking at second hand E200 kompressor, 520i and 320/318i.

i can't seem to find a civic type R here as well.

oh man. i give up. my dad wants to get another saab. i honestly cannot understand why he is unwilling to change his mindset. he's already bought 5 of them and i've lived long enough to see 4. he doesn't want to get a sports/fast car neither does he want to get a good luxury car.

i'll complain till he changes his mind

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
