HEy guys. i got this autopatcher july edition and was wondering about when the august is coming out. i think mcafee is an awesome idea for an addon as it does not need a cd key just your email or set-up email that is valid. mc afee=crap for detecting viruses but to activate norton is complete b.s

The August release should happen pretty soon after MS have release the customary set of monthly patches.

Oh, and I doubt a program like MC Afee would be included, to be honest, 1) because you're supposed to buy it and 2) because why force a specific AV on people?

^

Or not. As I have mentioned a few times in various threads, we won't be releasing any new AP until we figure out what we're going to do about WGA.

Oh, and about the suggested anti-virus solution, I don't think so. The reasons posted by m2ys4u are your answer.

FORCE????

Should be an option. If AV is there for you to install ...it a choice for you to do so. But to say FORCE people...i mean come on now. You sound like someone that complaint about having windows media install with windows xp for god sake.

let get a bit real here.

And to say ....you have to buy Mcafee anyway. UNLESS you can put on a FREE AV program. like avast it is free

Posting (links with) information on how to deactivate/bypass/circumvent WGA is not be allowed. You may talk about WGA and how good/bad it is all you want, just keep the above information to yourself.

Yeah well here they don't believe doing stuff like that cuz they want to be perfect angels cuz their afraid that MS will find out what their doing you know if you guys are all using genuine Windows XP version then why are you guys talking about WGA and so worried about it with AutoPtacher August 2005 and MS wouldn't find out what you were doing with cracking the WGA you guys complain about the WGA and getting passed the only way your going to get passed it is if you crack it if you guys aren't willing to do that then AutoPatacher is finished for good just keep that in mind.

Slagging off the folks that do autopatcher is about the worst idea I've come across

in a very long time. One of the 10 best pieces of software on the net.

They are tops.

free av

been using this one for years, and it catches everything.

autopatcher, should never contain anything that would make it a target for legal action.

we are not worried about passing wga ourselves, or ways in which to bypass it, were woried about redistributing the downloads.

if you want to bypass wga and download the updates, then thats up to you. you did it, your responsible.

if we download the updates and offer them to you, whether we do it with a legal windows installation, or by bypassing wga, you yourself dont go through the check.

we would be enabling and encouraging you to go round it.

PS. it would help if you used a little punctuation!

Aren't you the smart one! Since you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, why are you wasting (y)our time? Here's a good read for you.

Anyway, thanks. It's nice to see our efforts are appreciated. Maybe you're right after all. I'm sure I could make good use of the time I spend for AutoPatcher. Of course I wouldn't be helping others, but you can't have everything I guess.

Well who cares about WGA it's stupid Microsoft has to make something so dumb just for money. Who cares if ppl are pirating Microsoft Windows XP if they wouldn't charge over 200 bucks for Windows XP Professional and made it more bug less FREE I'm sure Microsoft would see a big change in their sales of their products. Like who wants to pay for something that full of bugs no one wants to but Microsoft is making them do it for money cuz Bill Gates is getting poorer all the time.

basicaly if you add one antivirus then you should include alot more than one, thats why no av will be added, sides mcafee stinks, might a suggest adding an antispyware app like spybot search and destroy since it is free and or maybe adding ms antispyware since it is free, adding an antispyware app might be a good idea.

I think that the use of an antivirus is a personal thing. For me, NOD32 is best antivirus program, or for spyware, Spy Sweeper.

Better is to add some registry file that enables spyware protection like Spyware Block List File:

- Download Basic Registry File http://www.spywareguide.com/blocklist.reg

(Direct Link | Free)

- Download Experts Package http://www.spywareguide.com/blocklist.zip

(Direct Link | Free)

Or even free and powerfull program SpywareBlaster:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html

* Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software.

* Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.

* Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

That's all!

guys guys guys...the FREE spyware and adware removers are basically crap. If you ask my opinion

3. BPS spyware-adware remover

2. lavasoft adaware 1.06 se (r sumthing like that)

1. Pest patrol

its like saying ill buy home edition instead of profesional...or sumthing like that. cath my drift?

In reality, WGA is now disabled (as far as I understand) because of the available crack that makes it invalid.

Furthermore, it has been shown that Linux machines pass the authentication process -- funny? I think so! :D

The point is that AutoPatcher August 2005 Edtion should not be considered a violation of Microsoft's license. It is simply an awesome tool that saves us incredible time (and adds a great number of features we all need).

I sincerely hope you will not suspend AutoPatcher. You are helping many people (especially those of us with small home LANs that connect via dial-up) keep our machines safe.

Thank you for all your time and efforts!

diks at microsoft!!!

how do u guys get your security patches neways??? they post em up somewhere???

autopatcher is to tecky for me if you hack in ur comp r sumthing like that....neways god dam wga check

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
