Sports Fan Kills Wife For Wanting To Cuddle After

Recommended Posts

PANAMA CITY, Fla. --  A man who got angry with his wife because she wanted to cuddle after sex when what he really wanted to do was watch sports on television was sentenced to death for killing her with a claw hammer.

Christopher Offord, 30, was sentenced Wednesday by Circuit Judge Dedee Costello, who said the brutality of the crime outweighed any mental problems Offord may have had.

"The defendant struck his wife approximately 70 individual blows after spending a happy interlude with her," the judge said. "Her desire to cuddle after sex does not justify the extremely violent, brutal response of the defendant."

Offord pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2004 slaying of Dana Noser, 40, at his apartment.

He confessed to a bartender at a sports bar before his arrest. He told investigators that his wife had been nagging him to come back to bed.

Offord did not speak in court but said in a jailhouse interview in June: "I figured I killed her so I deserve to die."

Individual blows? This begs the question, what other types or numbers of blows can you deliver with a clawhammer besides individuals? Double blows? Triple Lutz double toe-loop blows? Is there some kind of ESPN4 sport that has fancy clawhammer blow delivery maneuvers?

 . . . :o . . . . . .

that's just....wow..... I don't even wanna ask which side of the claw hammer used up more of those 70 blows.

I wonder what the defence lawyers could have even come up with as an attempt at a defence?

As wrong as this is gonna sound, atleast he is dignified enough to accept his punishment, he isn't begging for a way out.

As much as its easy to argue that there is no way he should have ever gone that nuts about it, the fact that he is submitting to the punishment restores *that much more* of my faith in humanity.

Combos, but those tend to do less damage then individual blow lol.

I'm sorry, im not laughing at what happened, laughing at the fact they pointed out that they were individual blows.

    • I sort of agree with you on that. I had a telescope - a real hefty thing, although only around 500CHF - that got me so fascinated about the stars and planets. I would stare for hours, amazed that I could see the craters of the moon or the rings of Saturn in "realtime" (quotations because, y'know, speed of light and whatnot). A friend of mine has a telescope like the one mentioned in the review, and the pictures are amazing to look at. But there is something missing for me. I may as well just go to NASA's website and look through their gallery.
    • As opposed to catching bad press because it's the engine's fault? Unreal has all the tools a dev needs to optimize their game, Epic isn't gonna hold their hand to make sure they use them. Also, Epic isn't forcing anyone to use Lumen, Nanite or super high resolution meshes and textures. Just because Nanite can render meshes with millions of polygons doesn't mean you should use it like that, in fact, Epic recommends you avoid doing that. Most of the stuttering can easily be fixed by cutting down on unique materials by using master materials, using instanced meshes or combining meshes, generating a thorough PSO cache to allow shader pre-compilation and also managing what must be loaded and unloaded at runtime. It's up to the developer to set all that up properly, and no, Unreal or any other engine can't do any of that for you.
