Presenting the new Neowin Logo

Recommended Posts

Hmm, pardon me for saying this, but maybe a just small teaser of the new design to help people visualize how the new official logo will fit.

I would think that we could definantly get a great Neowin 4 out if you guys build it with the large neowinian database of members that made you guys what you are today. For large communities like this, the website should be built with a say by the community, that way you will be able to get something out great.

BTW, OT: Will Neowin 4 have a custom CMS in place?

:)

I prefer the old logo, based seeing the two logo's side by side on a plain white bg...

Maybe i will prefer the new one when it is in it's place in the new design, but at the moment, not all that keen on it, i agree with StevoFC, it looks too beveled :)

I don't like it alot. It looks like an overuse of bevels, satins and shadows. Not professional at all. It looks like a step backwards than forwards.

Honestly, it looks like someone first playing with Photoshop made it. I was hoping Neowin improves with every version, but if this represents the quality of the next version, I would find it very hard to accept as an improvement.

I really think the logos should be changed to more professional, polished and attractive look; those to-be-official new logos are worse than the current one.

Those really look as if someone just played around with various filters and effects and accidentally achieved a satisfying look.

I don't care how well it might match with the rest of the layout, the truth remains that the logo of this amazing website is ugly and many seem to be neglecting the significance of the logo.

And the mods' comment that the new Neowin will match the logo worries me even more; does it mean that the rest of the website will be full of overused bevels and somewhat unrealistic shadows?

Not given my 2 Cents yet, so might aswell.

I think the current logo is nice, I think the new logo is nice, not like we spend more then 5 seconds looking at the logo anyway ;) So I don't know why so many of you are annoyed some even disgusted over the change.

Time to add that Milk to my Special K.

Took the words from my mouth.

Gotta say, i think it should have left till maybe late september to tease us though :p

Well... I have to be honest about this one, I don't like it a bit... :(

I don't like the bevel, satin and shadow. It makes it look very unsharp, and the fact that the N isn't centered in the surrounding "circle" makes it worse too. The glass look of the current logo is much better imo :)

I think ZZOOzzoo already said everything I wanted to say...

I really appreciate all the work you do for Neowin Flishfun, certainly no bad words for that. I also like your other designs, and that's why I'm dissapointed in the new logo, I know you can do much better!

Anyways, just needed to get that off my mind, hope I didn't offend anyone :)

A quick mock up using the same effects applied in that new logo by FlishFun. Surely not the best quality though it was not intended to be.. but my point is that it takes more than just applying a couple of effects and calling it a day.

These logo's can definitely not go unnoticed, that's great! Also, Timan's logo is very good as well

That looks great, it really catches the eye.

BOT:

C'mon guys, the majority of Neowin users that have posted in this thread do not like the new logo, and honestly, I can not see how it will fit in an interface that will make it look better. (Again, No Offense! This thread should not have been posted if none of the staff will look at any criticism we may have.

A non-democratic forum will only lead to one thing....... Revolution lol :p

You took the words out of my mouth. Also, why is it posted for "feedback" if its final and its not going to change regardless of what we say?

When did I say it was posted for feedback?

Not there...

[quotPost:b>? Okay everyone... I know you've been very anxious for the upcoming Neowin 4, and it's been a lot of hard work on all of us. Anyway, as a present for your patience, here is a sneak peak at the official new Neowin Logo:

All this hard work we've put into the development is planning to go site wide by October 1st (if not before) to celebrate Neowin's 5th anniversary.

Enjoy!!

For those who like the other themes, here it is in all the theme colors:

Not there, either.

Steve just wanted me to post it so everyone could see. That's all. No asking for feedback, it's not even implied. I don't mind people posting their opinions, since they haven't seen the final product. The only thing that bugs me, is people who say this isn't hard work. I've m tons /i>of versions of the logo and the new site, and it take lot /i>of my time to get it so that Steve (and the other Admins) like it.

While it might look unprofessional, people should know that I'm a bit better at making things than I may be given credit for... I'm working for the Administrators of Neowin. If they want a beveled black square, it's not my job to make a masterpiece, it's my job to make them their beveled black square. Some of my style is rubbing off on the site, but when is all said and done, it's still going to be what Steve (and the other Admins) think looks good. It's their vision, I'm just the one making it for them (and trust me, on some things, our visions and styles don't sync up, and I go with what they want). That's all.

Looking forward to Neowin v4.0. Have been waiting a while now. Looks good so far. Don't mind those who doesn't like it, it's nothing they can do about it. It's your work dammit. Deal with it people!

And that's why I didn't want to post here in the first place... I just posted my opinion, just like you posted yours :)

Don't hate me now :p
