Presenting the new Neowin Logo

Recommended Posts

This post has turned into the ugliest thing Ive ever seen.

It's completely lost focus, and honestly ... Whatever moderator said that it was not the intent of NeoWin to post the new logo for feedback, has become retarded in my book.

Either thats a load of bull squeeze, or someones just letting this thread get outa contrl. and way off topic. Wtf is the point of this thread anyway?

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and spend less time bitching and more time appreciating the fact that Neowin is getting served to them free, practically on a silver platter.

I for one, refuse to jump on the Judging Train till I see the new layout implemented.

Okay everyone... I know you've been very anxious for the upcoming Neowin 4, and it's been a lot of hard work on all of us.  Anyway, as a present for your patience, here is a sneak peak at the official new Neowin Logo:

All this hard work we've put into the development is planning to go site wide by October 1st (if not before) to celebrate Neowin's 5th anniversary.

Enjoy!!

For those who like the other themes, here it is in all the theme colors:

I can't see the images?

So I've just finished reading the whole thread right now, and I have to say that I agree with lots of people on the dissapointment and the fact that it just doesn't look as good as the current logo.

Furthermore I also agree with StevoFC and DarkCircuit. I just think members should be able to judge what looks good as well, as they're going to be people who use the site regularly. I for one know that I'm struggling when the site does have the same bevelled / embossed look as the logo... It always reminds me of webdesign back in 1998, when the bevel and emboss filters where just invented. It's overused and just doesn't look that good (anymore - back in the day it was like WHOA! 3D! - I do get that).

Another thing I wanted to say, if yu're showing us the final logo... and there's like 80% of the people NOT-liking it, though you still keep telling us it looks great with the new layout. Why not give us a sneak-peak of that too, so you guys won't have to comply with our whining, as you say.

I also have to say, the logo looks better when scaled down, so I can only hope that happens when the new layout goes online, if it stays this big and the layout matches it with bigness and that look... well, then I better hope there'll be a classic version or a minimal one... :\

Flish said that we need to see it as an overall design. As a designer I agree but I am afraid that his meaning was like "it blends perfectly because the new version its full of bevels"

Yes, that was very much my concern.

I wasn't being condescending at all.  People misinterpreted what I posted.

It did come across as condescending, whereas Dazzla's replies seemed more respectful of the community.

It looks really nice! The only thing I would suggest is doing a manual drop shadow for the N. That way, you won't get two points, as if the letter was floating. The manual method makes it look as if it is fused to the surface rather than in mid-air. Ohter than that, good work! Reminds me of the N logo from the Nautilus in 20000 leagues under the sea!

    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
