Presenting the new Neowin Logo

Recommended Posts

No offence, but it looks very amateur, looks like multiple bevelled bits - as in the standard filter with PS/Fireworks, looks rather blurred rather than crisp and clean.

A step backward, rather than forward imo :(.

You seemed to have hit the big ones.

Edit: I don't know if you did grey or silver but silver is more popular.

 I didn't realise there was a difference between grey and silver! I'll make a silver one now

Edit: This is @ DarkCircuit

Pfft, like I'd be caught dead there (JOKE!)

But seriously, that's why I said 'no offence', it's the same deal as in the Graphics Corner, giving crits on a design can often be interpreted as an insult, which they aren't ;).

Dood... if you were talking about my crap sig ... i made it in 10 secs, and its was suposed to look crappy! lol!

Very nice! Looks great, congrats to all staff for your hard work

Gotta love the blue and midnight one hehe

No, tell im to make a green one.

Im too lazy to color swap one. Plus, I want an original piece of work.

Here's a quick comparison:

New:  post-21616-1123855758.png

Old:  post-21616-1123855741.png

Trust me, it's a bigger change than the XP Flag and Vista Flag. ;)

Sorry but between the two. I prefer the current logo. The new one just looks a bit too marshmallowish. If ya catch ma drift.

I personally think it's WAY to filter based. You need to bring it down, keep it minimal, work out the shape better. I think it's a good alternative to the rounded corner style, but ... really, bring down those filters, it makes it look FAR to amatuer.

keep it up!

Agreed with this guy.

On the other hand, the old one looks a bit dull when put against this new one, but it doesn't change that I still believe it looks heavily based on bevel filters.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and spend less time bitching and more time appreciating the fact that Neowin is getting served to them free, practically on a silver platter.

Yeah, Neowin as a service is great! :)

Ew. I wouldn't add a bevel/emboss to it. As someone already said in the first pages, it looks amateur :( I stopped using this effect a long time ago.. or when I use it, I use the option to soften it and I put it to 16 (the maximum!)

The current one is much nicer imo. I'd keep it

Edit : The circle around the new logo is PERFECT though. I love the effects, I love making those too :p DOn't change that

I think it looks fine when shrunk.  :)

I guess I should have posted small ones when I made this thread. I just put the big ones out so people could use them for whatever they wanted (so it could be resized down).

    • Can confirm, I've built stuff for others and no complaints using their products.
    • Yes I agree, it's annoying. You can now miss tabs unless you point low enough.
