chavo
Rokn this -> http://2sdw.com/images/8-03-dirty.jpg is my screenshot. It uses a combination of effects. The window border is Crystal which you have found and I use kompmgr from KDE to make the inactive windows transparent. You can also use kompmgr to make just the borders semi-transparent. The problem with this is that the window title is also made transparent and harder to see. So avalon like glass effects are possible, it just hasn't been coded yet. I can hack away at source code, but I'm not a programmer. But I predict that these types of efeects will be perfected on Linux within the next couple of months. Knight'
You guys think too small: http://rapidshare.de/files/4553011/xgl_wanking.avi.html I've also seen xgl run GNOME. In the next 2 years we'll see things like this for the masses, but not right now. P.S. I think the Vista Glass effects are HORRID! hornett
I saw that video earlier today, and I agree it looks fantastic. However I also found this article: Xgl developer calls it quits http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?...9&tid=152&tid=8 :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/358282-glass-effects-in-linux/page/2/#findComment-586459595 Share on other sites

They are not overstated, they look nice, they perform very quickly and they are still in a beta state. No reason to go MS bashing for brownie points here. This is not slashdot. We are all open minded gentlemen. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/358282-glass-effects-in-linux/page/2/#findComment-586460953 Share on other sites
Knight'
chavo, try putting two windows above each other, when two transparent title bars intersect, see what a blurry mess you'll get.
