Eminem Is In Drug Rehab

Two days after deep-sixing his European tour citing "exhaustion," Eminem has confirmed through his publicist that he is in drug rehabilitation.

The Grammy-winning rapper "is in the hospital under doctors' care," Interscope Records spokesman Dennis Dennehy said in a brief statement Thursday. "He is being treated for dependency on sleep medication."

No further details were released. However, Star magazine reported that the rapper had checked in to a facility in his native Michigan.

Eminem has rapped about the wonders of LSD, has reportedly popped Ecstasy and even has a Vicodin tattoo, but he had claimed to have reformed his bad-boy lifestyle over the past few years.

On Tuesday, Dennehy released a statement announcing the cancellation of the 10-date European leg of the rapper's Anger Management 3 tour. At the time, Dennehy would only say the 32-year-old rapper nixed the trip due to "exhaustion, complicated by other medical issues" and that he was being treated for the undisclosed maladies.

The European sojourn was set to kick off Sept. 1 in Hamburg and wrap Sept. 17 in Dublin. The dates won't likely be rescheduled.

Eminem had finished the U.S. run of the tour, which also featured 50 Cent, Lil Jon and members of the G-Unit crew, Aug. 13 in his hometown of Detroit.

The trek had been marred by a major bus accident en route to Denver July 13, in which several members of the tour, including Eminem's deejay, were hospitalized.

News of Eminem's rehab stint comes amid some other trouble for the rapper. After having weathered salvos from his mother, grandmother and ex-wife, Eminem now faces a lawsuit from his aunt and uncle, Betty and Jack Schmitt, who claim he is trying to evict them from a house he had built for them and renegged on a promise to pay them a yearly stipend of $100,000. In their suit filed Aug. 12 in Michigan's Macomb County Court, the couple are seeking $350,000 in cash and ownership of the property, according to documents posted at the Smoking Gun.

In July, the Detroit Free Press reported the rapper otherwise known as Marshall Mathers III would be retiring from recording and performing following the European tour and instead focus on producing other artists.

But Mathers angrily dismissed the report, telling MTV.com, "When I say I'm taking a break, I'm taking a break from my music to go in the studio and produce my other artists and put their albums out.

"When I know my next move, I'll tell everyone my next move."

If indeed he retires, he will go out as the best selling hip-hop artist of all time. His four solo studio albums--1999's The Slim Shady LP, 2000's The Marshall Mathers LP, 2002's The Eminem Show and Encore--have moved more than 25 million copies in the U.S. alone and generated sales of more than $1 billion.

He's also won nine

Grammys to go along with his Best Song Oscar for the 8 Mile track "Lose Yourself."

As an A&R man for his Shady Records, he guided 50 Cent's monster-selling debut release, Get Rich or Die Tryin' and has shepherded releases for his G-Unit posse and his Detroit rap crew D12.

Damn I Thought he was off the drugs and that was why Encore sucked if he was still on them then i guess he has no excuse

They're sleeping pills... not something like crack, coke, or heroine. His body has most likely just built up to high of an immunity and like it said a dependancy for him so he prolly can't sleep without them.

Hope he recovers soon enough. I think time off would most likely cure something like this.

Damn. I saw an interview about the whole retire thing, and he pretty much said the same thing about if he does, you will know. And then 50cent said that people will see himself EVERYWHERE if Eminem does retire.

Eminem had a great run and It would suck if he does get out of the "game" but im sure that he will produce **** that will still come out.

Where's the surprise?

Most of Eminem's crew are/were gangsters. He lead a troubled childhood. He has a rough personality and suddenly he gets a ton of cash and doesn't know how to spend it.

If someone told me tomorrow that Diddy, P. Diddy, Diddy doesn't know what his real name is, is a drug abuser of some sort (booze, coke, whatever) I wouldn't be surprised either. I only mention him, because he seems to have a "clean" image. Same with 1/2 the professional athletes that "never" touched drugs. Is it such a shock they they go into rehab?

Heh, the best source on Rehab and celebrity is Dennis Leary's No Cure for Cancer. There's good reason too. He went through the same thing.

downers/sleeping tablets **** your life up after a long long time of dependency if we are talking vallium or temazipam or us equivalent then we are talking about something more addictive than heroin they seriously mess you up if hes just been on these for a while now i can understand why his music has dropped a level and why hes calmed down.

I only see it that he only sold so many records more than other Rap/Hip-Hop artists because he is white and so more white people buy his albums compared to black artist mainly haveing blacks buy their albums. There are artists that are awsome that only get exposure from blacks. So he has a combined black and white buying his albums and the whites greatly out weight the blacks.

I'm not trying to dis or discredit him. He is a good song writer and artist. I'm just talking about sales. I don't think he should be considered the best of all time when there are many Hip-Hop artist that are TRUE to hip-hop like KRS One which throw most of their money back to the streets to help get other blacks off the streets and get them an education and get the kids in better play grounds. I think that is how it should be and not based on sales.

He has a ton of skills, but I think he has wasted some of them by dissing too many people. I didn't think he really had skills until he came out with some lyrics that he doesn't cus in. Anyone can make a rap by cusing and when he did it without, then I gave him more respect. And most of his skills are when he was first starting out. My favorite is when he was on stage at the Rap Olympics.

And of course no one is mentioning the law suite against him and a few large rap and magazine owners about some material he wrote a long time ago calling blacks Porch Monkeys and telling them to suck his *ick and all the prejudice he used to spit. I'm glad he turned around from that. The tapes do exist and I've heard them. I've seen the interview about it too and how he's trying to keep it hush hush as much as possible. This was like when we was in high school with his first group wich where all white people.

I think Rakim is a better writer anyways. :) Just had to throw that in.

Eminem has gone through alot in his life, he uses music as an outlet for his anger so you can't really expect him not to diss people. I respect his music alot as he actually writes what's on his mind instead of what others want to hear.

But he has dissed way more people such as NSYNC, Britney, Ja Rule, Vanilla Ice...just to name a few

    • Threads scales past half a billion users, brings deeper community and feed controls by Fiza Ali Meta has announced Threads crossing a major milestone of 500 million monthly active users. And, at the heart of this growth sits something simple: communities. From books to basketball, parenting to music, Threads says its rise has been powered by people clustering around shared interests and, in turn, giving the platform its identity. In response, the platform is expanding its Communities feature beyond beta and introducing a set of new tools designed to make participation easier and more engaging. A redesigned Communities Hub will now appear in the main navigation menu, allowing users to jump between groups without leaving their feed. Each community will also receive a distinct Community Icon, giving them clearer visual identity and making them easier to recognise across the platform. Then there’s Community Progress, which is a kind of live gauge showing how close a topic is to becoming a full-fledged community, alongside guidance on how users can contribute to its development. In addition, Meta is also expanding its Community Champions programme, recognising more users who actively contribute to community engagement. And then things go more local; Local Communities is already available in 100 countries, including North America, South America, Asia, and Europe but are now rolling out with native-language tags starting in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The platform is also expanding Live Chats to more communities in the coming weeks, adding features such as co-hosting and the ability to quote moments directly into users’ feeds. Beyond communities, Meta is tightening the loop between users and their feeds. Earlier this year came "Dear Algo," a feature that lets people tell Threads what they want more or less of. Now it’s being paired with a new tool, "Your Algo." It allows people to adjust how frequently certain topics appear, with options lasting one, three, or seven days. Meta says these preferences remain private and can be managed alongside “Dear Algo” in a unified settings hub. The rollout begins in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Finally, the company says these changes are part of an ongoing effort to refine Threads based on user feedback and that further updates will continue as the platform evolves.
