I had this with the beta releases too (screenshot attached). Any ideas?

Messenger 7.5 has problems with AdMuncher. If it's your case, go to Admuncher configuration, Options, Filter targets, click on "msnmsgr" and "Don't filter". Apply and close.

Microsoft wouldn't release the software if no one could connect. I understand not everyone is having this problem.

Strip registry settings, app data folder for MSN Messenger and remove MSN Messenger 7.5 and re-install - that'll work

I reported this bug to Microsoft when I was testing 7.5.

What a shame they didn't fix it.

Before I had to disable it, then connect and reenable it.

I un-installed MSN Messenger 7.5 and restarted in Safe Mode then ran CCleaner and restarted again. I also deleted the contents of the Application Data/MSN Messenger folder. Re-installing MSN Messenger 7.5 still doesn't work.

I don't want to mess around deleting registry entries if I don't know what I am deleting. I have Messenger Plus! installed too and I don't want to deleted related registry entries for that.
