Help with new sound card + surround system

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be buying a Turtle Beach Catalina sound card and a Logitech X-530 surround system. They may not be top of the line but I can't really afford to spend more than a $100 right now.

Anyways, I was just wondering if you all could tell me how much to turn up the treble and bass for music and DVDs. It may be a stupid question but I'm a n00b when it comes to audio stuff. I can't have the bass extremely loud as I still live at home. :p

Any other advice you could give me to get the most out of this setup would be most appreciated. :)

well really u need the sub on the floor, and make sure its near a corner for the best, crispest bass..

then adjust the bass in the sound cards control panel and only have the volume levels at 50% and then adjust the volume via the speakers.

treble shud be fine as default, unless ure a treble head.

Thank you very much for your response. It was very helpful? :)

Just one more question: Will using Dynamic Range Control worsen the sound on Dolby Digital tracks? I just don't like the way the sound goes up and down a lot on DD tracks. God, how I wish all DVDs came with DTS tracks.
