using it at work right now and loving it. very usable, and professional looking. :D

but i personally loved the shorter caption buttons as opposed to the taller version in the final, i think the shorter version made it look sleeker.

other than that, looks awesome, thanx for sharing.

LOL first off, he's the dude that tought he was ALWAYS right, then i put him down dirty with a quick analysis of how badly wrong he was. Now he comes around saying this theme was taken from Alienware's theme? Man, do I have to put this guy down everytime he disses em3's work? I think im too lazy to right now, but im sorry, darkstar is #*&@$@! compared to LE4, uhh, just watch, page views, replies, and ranking will put fl@sh down so dirty he can't come up for air :D

I imagined he was one of the usual trollz who likes to appear when the occasion permits. :)

Great theme - clean and professional...

Using the black style

But I would prefer another startbutton, maybe like the rectangular one, somebody has posted in the WIP thread. And maybe a color-separated tray area....

[EDIT]

and maybe the taskbar could be a little bit smaller, so that the elements are centered on it...

...and the startbutton has too much glow in "pressed-mode"

[/EDIT]

Just my thoughts...

Thanks, most of you for your nice comments. :D Here are some replys.

Damn!  Awesome work, em3! (Y)(Y)(Y)

Can I have a link to the cursor you're using in the screenshot, please?  :D

Visit my deviantArt gallery. :)

Black styles still have blue taskbars when the taskbar is on the left or right hand side of the screen. But a fantastic style!

586464241

Yea, sorry about that. Didn't think anyone wound use the vertical taskbar. Anyway, I'll fix it in the next release. :)

my only one sugestion I prefer more old START button, exept this everything is superb

586464310

The old startbutton was to plain boring. The new one is better imo, because of the added light it doesn't look so flat.

Again EM3 I love your themes :) it almost attains perfection apart from one thing, I was wondering if you could possibly make some buttons for ultramon which is a multi monitor control application cause as you can see the extra buttons it adds look unsightly in LE4 they looked fine in LE3 due to the normal size of the buttons on the title bar.

(Edit helps when I spell things correctly)

Do you need like a skin or something. PM me with more details how to make them.

Nice work!!! What icons are you using?

As always, this theme ROCKS!!! I'm loving the black!!  :ninja:

But can I make a couple of suggestions? Can you add an alternate start button version, like you did with Luna 3? And in the black version, alter the scrollbar colors to grey, instead of the common light blue?

Anyway, thanks a lot! I'm sure thousands of people around the world will use this wonderful VS. And great work!!  :woot:

P.S.: By the way, what set of icons does anyone recommend to use with the black compact Luna Element 4?

586464392

No alternate startbutton. Read more here: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...ost&p=586389273

As for the scrollbars I actually made them gray at first but then I changed my mind because I thought the light blue looked better.

umm.. so because im not #%@^ ing in my pants like the rest of you im a killjoy?

haha, ummNO.. im right.. and erm3 knows it. He KNOWS he used some ideas from alienware, and altho he will deny it of course, he still knows it.

All u have to do is check out Darkkstar by alienware to see the similarities. anyone that knows anything about themes and \ or graphics will notice.

https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...093&hl=darkstar

i cant help it if most of you are blindingly unaware of other themes that came before this. Not my fault or problem.

586464415

Like I've said before I DO NOT use WB so I wouldn't know. I have not seen that skin before either. I got the tilted button idea from a Winamp skin (883 Bionica v2).

small problem......ive used reshack to customize my explorer.exe such that my start button instead to "start" says "RAWpower" but when i apply this VS the start button says "start" again....whys that ?

586464433

The explorer.exe startbutton overlay (text and flag) has been removed. That's why you don't see your custom text.

Nice job em3, the only thing that I didn't really like was that the compact titlebars seemed a bit small.

I will probably be using this for a while! (Y) :D

586464615

Imho it's great that the titlebars are so small.

Hopyfully they stay like this.

    • Still 3x what it should cost. So, it seems the trick is to increase price by 6x so that a reduction in price back to 4x looks like a steal. "You savvy shoppers win again!" I'm glad I'm not in a desperate spot to actually even need this overpriced crap. Hopefully, it comes back down by the time for when (or if) I ever do.
    • Although AI is great and has it's use cases they likely have massively overhyped it and it has not delivered as per their expectations. I fully expect them to start saying the same things again when it does get to a certain level of intelligence!
    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
