origenxbox360.com Speculation Thread

Recommended Posts

I just thought I'd make an official thread for all of our Origen Xbox360 thoughts, as well as the updates.

So lets see here, the site has currently been up for about 4 weeks, in the recent update 2 rabbits have appeared, 2 new fruits have appeared and latin text has appeared on one of the tree branches saying:

"in hoc spatio arbor noster floruit, fecundus pomies Elysii ignoti, qui in loco ludent electi, ab Originis angelis circumdati."

Which translates to:

"In this space our tree has flourished abundant with the unknown fruits of Elysium, who will play in the chosen place, surrounded by the angels of Origen."

The current SWF file is named: "week-4_with_latin.swf"

Here is some speculation from TeamXbox:

All these clues are pointing to an event that might take place on September 27th on a place (Elysium) in which some favored mortals will get to play Xbox 360 before the console's launch. The rumored NYC Xbox 360 store? Another store in Tokyo, Japan? What about Europe?

Let the speculation begin!

I can't find it on the tree myself, but it has been confermed, here is a screenshot from TeamXbox with a little explination:

In addition to the new rabbit and fruits, today's update of the Origen Xbox 360 website also has a text in latin in one of the branches. The text only appears in you zoom in using the Flash menu; if you capture the screen and paste it in Photoshop, the text won't appear.

Edit: Aha, I found it, it's coming out of one of the branches near the lower part of the trunk:

How can the words be written with a smaller pixel than what the tree has? It seems like when you see someone in a movie zoom into a pixelated image and then "fix" it so they can see the face of the suspect.

It's flash, so it's vector based... the tree itself is a rasterbased image, hence the pixels when you zoom in, but the text is vector based so it can be really really REALLY tiny without losing quality..

  • 3 weeks later...

i hope this origen thing is an announcement of the "Core" SKU's death. that package is so stupid! Companies have already stated that some games will require the HDD yet they said the "Core" is for casual gamer. what the mother of crap is up with that!?

    • I can name 10x that on why not to switch.... It's funny outlook/office are going towards web app wrappers, and then MS is now preaching native apps again.... ugh can we just pick a lane and stay in it
    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
