Best way to do this is to create another partition with a partitioning program such as PartitionMagic, install .NET on that partition and do a Duel Boot. If you don't like .NET you can delete the partition and erase it's entries in the boot.ini on your primary partition.

[edit] You cannot upgrade from XP to .NET and uninstall in case that was the question you were asking. ;)

i dunno should you? if thats whatcha got an wanna use it for .NET go ahead. that sounds like enough space for just playing around with a beta OS.
