Seems fine to me, I can see the technical support calls now by people trying to setup their AOL internet connections and are unable to find the "start" button.

  Lmao ... so true!

that is sweet but what they need to do and maby they will do it later on is adda Flag animation to it or somthing or liek have it like animating colers and crap who knows. i bet tho this is the start of what they are keeping from us for the rest of the new GUI. hek maby the start menu has changed

good, i never liked the way you were meant to 'start' with that button, like on a fresh 2k install it reminds you to 'click here to begin', and what if i refuse, will the os never work .... oh wait, lol

also there isnt a 'stop' button so the system makes no sense

bring on the new button and get rid of this 'start' nonsense

It looks good, but what about maximized windows? Does the bottom of the maximized window stop at the top of the actual taskbar, or the top of the start button? If it stops at the top of the start button, it would look wierd. If it stops at the top of the taskbar, any app that has info in that section of it's window when maximized will be blocked... just my 2 cents.

Wasn't it mentioned in one of the Microsoft chat sessions that was posted somewhere here that there would be a few Visual Styles in Vista that would surprise people? Would this be one of them?

If Microsoft had that on their site then removed it then they obviously didn't want people seeing that.

Anyway I like it. I like how it goes above the taskbar like that it's different for a change. Seeing it without saying Start I actually like that much better.

Now someone hurry up and make that into a Visual Style for XP. Come on you know someone's most likely already got started on it lol Someone send this thread to Kol maybe he'll do it.

Ive seen this thread. A start button like this one is not very usable in XP, You need to create a bigger taskbar with the top part transparent to be able to create a startbutton like that plus when you maximize a windows it wont cover the part trasparent part of the taskbar. And Im not really sure if that I told you is possible hehe, I've never try it. :D

Like it except that it sticks out of the taskbar... will it be above or below windows? (will there be a gap between the main taskbar and a maximized window or will part of the orb be covered up?)

edit: Just realized Jimbo asked this above. Well I guess there are 3 options I can think of: Window lines up with start button with gap between window and taskbar/Window covers up start button and lines up with taskbar/Window is a little covered up by start button and lines up with taskbar. Mouseover could work, but I was never a fan of it at all and I don't think MS would force people to use mouseover if they wanted to use the theme. Also I guess they could have the start button be on top and go translucent when a window was placed on it, would be a cool effect.

MS should make a little easter egg where you can take out the orb and throw it around the screen for fun and new ones appear :D

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
