Get yourself a copy of IBT and watch your rig implode. Near on impossible for your rig to 100% stable with that kind of OC.

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. I have C1E enabled. That's why the voltage is so low at idle. Here's a picture of CPU-Z at 100% load.

Those temps are a bit high ! Dont you have a custom cooler ?

Just installed a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 a few hours ago. Those temps were taken right after it was installed. Been watching them since and while gaming they aren't getting over 55.

Been fooling around with some settings. Have only been able to get back up to 3.8 stable with a lower core voltage which reduced temperatures by 10 degrees.

Just started Prime95 up.

Finally hit 4GHz on air on my Q9550 with 8GB RAM after upping the PLL and VTT voltages.

Vcore is stable, LLC enabled and I'm on an EP45-UD3P mobo which is well known for reliable and accurate voltages.

True120 cooler btw with Akasa 120mm PWN fan controlled by Gigabyte ET6 software (auto mode).

My room is hot anyway and my GTX460 (Asus Top edition) does pump around some heat as well. Lian-Li case btw and all my fans are set for quiet operation instead of speed, they only ramp up during gaming.

I have successfully managed to stabilize my first overclock, that after doing some reading.

The question is: can I get more than 3GHz speed? I tried other combinations but they don't seem to get any stability at all. Some opinions would be highly appreciated! :)

This one is for MB ref speed, Socket 754/NF4 chipset, currently the #2 all time ref speed in the world for Socket 754 and was the previous world record.

Intel Pentium E2160 1.8 GHz @ 3.0 GHz

Video cards I don't really believe in overclocking since the performance gain has been so minimal for me, even with a pretty significant overclock, so that's stock. XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB Alpha Dog Edition.

    • Not such a great deal, Ultimate, which gives you full 5080 features is $181.99 CAD per month, that's $2183.88 per year, I can buy the 5080 for $1809.99 CAD, then it goes up to $279.99 per month after the first billing cycle. Typical cloud rental, costs more than buying the hardware.
    • Wow, spoken like a true blind hater, you don't even provide arguments. Please, go check my comment above to @seacaptain and you'll find out why what you say doesn't make sense in this context...
    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
