Driving in Rain

What do you guys use to wax/clean the windows on your car for best rain performance? Because when it rains, in my car, I cant see anything in the side windows. I have to lower the window to actually use the side-view mirrors or even look out...

make that three...i dont drive yet but in school last year we washed the teachers car and put rain-x on all the windows and then sprayed them....it looked awsome.

Rain-X I haven't done that to mine yet, but will soon with all the rain we're getting from rita :( which sucks because whenever there is a hurricane and when it's done the north gets all the rain >_<

I have to say, a lot of people are convncing me to switch to som of these more "specilist" cleaning products.

But I use a good screenwash that includes something to make water not "sit" in the screen as much.

yea, Rain-X is unbelievable at how well it makes the water run off windows... (i put it on my bathroom mirror too, so it doesn't fog up)

ive not got problems with driving in the rain, stick your head out the window if you cant see :p

Buttus: THANK YOU! I hav put a mirror up in my shower (it's a nice big one, many people fit) for shaving in - and it toally fogs! Nothing seems to fix that. Will try and source some rainx over here.

I use RAIN-X. It is great for everything from morning dew to heavy downpours here in Florida.

One thing to remember is to wipe/buff EXTREMELY well after application or you will get some narly hazing. Also, less you use the wipers longer it lasts.

They also have an Anti Fog product. I have never used their waxes....

First thing you want to do is CLEAN and polish your windows to get all the crap you

can't see off of them. Use a GOOD quality glass cleaner. Then, polish the windows

with something similar to the old "40 mule team" boax cleaner.

After that, use Rain-X...it's the best!

Then, after you refill your wiper washer fluid, pour in some rain-x windshield washer

additive, or if the part store has it, get some rain-x washer fluid.

As for the side windows, after you use the Rain-x on them, they make some Rain-x

wipes, which come in a plastic bottle/can like the baby wipes do. Just run one of those

over the side windows once a month to keep the rain-x on them and you won't have

any problems.

Several years ago when I was down on my luck, I drove a 1972 Beetle. The heater/defroster didn't work, so it was a real bitch in rainy weather.

Definitly use Rain-X. You shouldn't need to use your wipers again, as the water just flys off your windows while you drive. A lot of people look at me while I drive in the rain without using wipers.

A few years back my gf unplugged the lead going to the heater on my punto (it hangs a little into the footwell. Went ALL winter with no heater, I had to get speed up to get enough airflor to defrost the screen. Let me say that again, I had to be driving fast BEFORE the screen would clear.

I felt like such a noob when I took it in to be fixed too. Click , there you go.

RainX + RainX windshield wipers.... works damn nice. And for side windows and back use RainX on all of them...

Rain-X it is. It was raining real bad here last night, and I couldnt see anything. And this past weekend, I was on the highway--and it was worse--it just looked like there was a permanent mist on the windshield.

rain-x. i put it once a few hours before the storm i was not expecting. (lucky)

everyone in the highway slowed down to crawl because they could not see, while i did not even put my wipers on. if you are driving at higher speeds its even betters :) drops just fly off the windshield.

Just wash the car and windows. There is no need for rain-x. As long as the windows are clean the rain will run off of them.
