Yeah, doesn't the 4.0 OS limit the amount of icons you can have per folder? WHY?!?! I don't know why Apple insist on putting stupid, pointless restrictions on the OS. Categories FTW!!!

Apple knows better then ourselves what is good for us ;)

To true to true.... But you know I fussed so bad, and was talking myself into getting an android based phone, but then looking at all the screenshots, they look SO cluttered.. I hate the layout. Apple at least does like for stuff to look clean and not overwhelming, I give them that

I have to agree with you there. I owned a G1 Android for a few weeks, and while it was a nice phone by itself the UI was not bad just... meh...

I installed a Sense UI ROM on it which was waaaay better, still it was quite hard to get something really nice of it and customizing was a pain compared to the iPhone.

If you look at my current iPhone screen, I got a heavy amount of eyecandy out of it while maintaining a clean and structured UI and I admit, if there wouldn't be Jailbreaking and Winterboard I would never own a iPhone since imho the default UI is very fugly. However most of the UI is made out of .pngs so editing to personal taste is a breeze, again I think my screens proof that ;)

And before anyone says, the UI is not that important, might be true, might not but I personally like to mod the hell out of my devices, you could say it's a hobby of mine^^

Cluttered? unlike the hordes of just square icons the iphone has with no form or even alphabetization...... Comparing Iphone to android OS layouts, the android you can decide where what goes and almost how it will look.... Iphone is just every app you have put somewhere on the screen it looks like..... Hell, on my android I have 1 screen for all main functions of what a phone needs, the next screen is photos, the next screen is system tools and widgets that detail system status, next screen is social media apps like facebook, twitter, google search, next screen I have all my music apps.... If you have a android phone that is "cluttered and disorganized", it's your horrible decorating skills, not the phone.

You can move and organise iPhone icons you know, I have a page for games, a page for productivity/utilities and a page for most used apps. Easy.

But it is still just 1 square icon next to another square icon. Look at both of these, 1 iphone, 1 android. There is no way you can not say the iphone has a better layout, when the android is able to actually do things on its widgets and screen, along with having everything nicely organized.

We can do widgets also, and yeah I think the icons for iphone look a TON better considering Android has every icon some different shape and size, there is no uniformity to it, and we aren't stuck with just square icons, we can do any size and color also, you just have to jb your phone

But Androids do that out of the box, no need to go about jailbreaking it for customization. I think the different icon/shape/size for the android is what is great. Each persons phone will be very different from each others due to this. Customized and set up to the persons liking.

I just find a screen filled with a bunch of square blocks dull and cluttered.

How easy is it to add and move about icons on the Iphone? Never tried that with one before, just messed around with what others already had done with theirs. With a android, all I have to do is press on the location of the screen i want said icon/widget and it will go there, or I can select a widget/icon and move it" freely" to a designated gridded space. The widgets usually have multiple types of views, so if you don't want a huge box, you can get a 1x2, or 1x4 sized version of it as well.

I do like the way the Iphone is able to put the whole word of said program under the icon properly, where as the droid just scrolls off screen.

Current iPhone 3Gs.

The lockscreen wallpaper is animated. The stars fly around the screen

I have folders for different media using Categories.. Which btw will still be better than the default 4.0 folders if apple keeps it as is in the beta.

How are you doing animated wallpaper?

I agree SkyDX.. btw speaking of your screens. What is that lastfm symbol on your statusbar? I have seen it on quite a few custom screenshots of peoples.

It Scrobbl, basically a background process that sends every song I play on my iPhone to my last.fm list^^

And shakey, I think there's no point in arguing, Android wins over the iPhone aslong as it's not jailbroken.

However when jailbroken the iPhone just wins because of the amount of customization and how easy it is to pull off. I can say that theming Android was quite a pain for me, iPhone theming is easy like a breeze

That's one thing i'd like to see on android..icon usage as on the iphone.

Ya, themeing/theming... what is correct since its not really a word :p, is sort of whack on the android. You would think it would be more open to it, but unless you root the phone, you really can not "theme" anything besides wallpaper and icon layout/spacing. But once you get a rooted ROM going, themeing isn't too difficult. I like the themes on the iphone, I just hate how the icons are littered across the screens on most peoples phones, with no real organization.

That samsung is a freaken mix breed.... crazy but clean lol.

Update, no more SenseUI, LauncherPro now being used, same as Nexus 1 launcher with modifications and much smoother/faster.

desktop_launcherpro_th.png

FWIW theming Android is as easy as installing an alternative launcher like mine above or a desktop addition such as dxtop and choosing a theme.

NOw iPhone users can't say that iPhone is easier than that. There's no need to jailbreak at all and there's no risk at all of breaking the phone whereas jailbreaking poses a risk of ending up with a brick....

Android customisation goes way beyond any phone once you lok at the wealth of options available from online kitchens to pre-baked roms to individual ports.

can you post that wallpaper please?

You know looking at the new Samsung Galaxy S, it does look some what like an iPhone and I LIKE it!!

it's called touchwiz interface and it's getting alot of bad reviews and slack online for imitating the iphone. android guys usually do not like apple.

Glasklart is a HUGELY popular theme.. It looks nice for sure.. I just got bored of it quick.

Ya, I never used it because I saw it so much, and seeing as the point of theming is to be 'unique' I never went for it.

But after using my other theme for so long glasklart is pretty nice.

I agree. I keep it on my phone because sometimes I just like to go back to it for a few days, because it is such a nice theme.

Are you running a custom rom or anything to theme it differently? How do you go about getting rid of sense UI? Looks nice.

I've been looking into themeing, but it seems like you need a customer rom to normally do it... am i missing something? lol

    • Get used to this, with AI tooling now uncovering new vulns and getting them exploitable far faster than has ever been possible before software is going to need to be updated far more frequently. Back in the day it may take reseachers weeks or months to do what AI can now do in hours. Once its a threat is discovered it's weaponsized far more quickly, meaning you simply can't be waiting 2, 3, 4 weeks to deploy a patch, it needs to be patched immediately. Going to be interesting handling this in the enterprise space where traditionally patching has been steady, but very staged (and rightly so up until now), that is going to have to change.
    • You don't need to "close all browser sessions constantly" or wait for updates to install. The updates download in the background while you use the browser, without interrupting you, they install automatically the next time you launch the app. And they install very fast (depending on your storage speeds, of course), you have to wait at most 2-3 extra seconds, if any. Seems like you haven't used Edge in a loooooooong time...
