"CELL offer twice the processing power of X360"

Variety of gameplay, solid playing experience...Just glancing over at my collection on my shelf, the first four come to mind:

Have GOW great game, tried Ico way back when it came out, it was okay, not great. MGS, rented was great, and Katamari looks like fun, but I wouldn't consider it a "great game".

some of you guys really need to relax, i mean the consoles havn't even came out yet and you are saying ps3 is better or xbox 360 is better and there is really not much to prove either points...

even if the ps3 is better a little bit (no ****ing way it's 2x better, no way) i'll still get an xbox360 because i've sworn my allegiance to it lol im no fanboy or anything i just prefer xbox to playstation. sony could be pulling a shifty here you know, they might just wait for the x360 to come out and then make sure all the parts in their system are better than that of the xbox360?. who knows, they could do it.

i'll probably end up with all 3 next gen systems within a few years anyway.

... whatever suits you, you should buy it. I would only suggest that don't buy PS3 because Sony says its "twice" as fast as Xbox360. Thats Bull**** and you know it.

very good point! i know people have their preferences here, and some of us mite never change, but the majority of people will just buy based on games alone. I think it's foolish for sony to say it's twice as fast when i bet my preordered 360 that it won't be twice as fast. I myself (for those of you who don't know) am an Xbox fan and whatnot but I don't dislike sony necessarily.. I don't like their blatant lies (PS2 slideshow comes to mind) but i owned their PS2Slim (however sold it because i didn't like any games for it and the games i did have looked like something that belongs in the toilet). If they can pull some impressive stuff i might consider buying that at launch depending on the games. However, XboxLive is absolutely amazing and I doubt sony could top that plus all of the extra features (media stuff) of the 360, but I hope they truly try because that's what causes innovation: competition.

For people to passionately argue for or against one thing or another is a bit ignorant because we're lucky we have a choice nowadays.. and the consoles that are coming out are better because of that competition. Not everyone is going to like the same thing nor can we all have a unanimous concurrence on one thing. Stop whining Sony this, Microsoft that. I admit I am an Xbox Fanboy but i don't bash sony nor do i have some sort of hatred for them, i simply love the Xbox's Live and Halo series and a lot of their other games. To each his own :)

Pepsi, btw ;)

Fresca says what?!

and Katamari looks like fun, but I wouldn't consider it a "great game".

Oh Katamari is definitely a great game. The soundtrack alone surpasses everything.

"Naaaanaaanananananananana. Go Katamari do your best! Dodododododo. Something something I don't remember the rest. Dododododdo"

Graphics wise Xbox 360 will be keep on matching until end of next year PC Cards while PS3 graphics will get old even before it launches in US.

LOL! MGS4 looks better than anything else shown for either Xbox 360 or PC and it's only running on alpha kits.

Hell even some PS2 games look better than most current PC games.

This may be true OS but only because the PS3 will be coming out after the 360. ATI and Nvidia will both have more powerful video cards out by the time the PS3 launches but this will not really matter anyway.

The PS3 and 360 will be very evenly matched this time so the games will basically look the same for each console throughout this upcoming generation.

nah i dont think MGS4 was all that, it was good but not as good as you are sayin, but what the hell thats your opinion, i think PGR3 looked much better and GoW looked greast, it was also shown as a playable demo and not juest a trailer with questionable credibility....

Come on guys. No system is really better. They are both going to be very powerful but they will both have different games and everyone likes different games. It will really be your preference. Sure the Xbox360 CPU is easier to code for, but mathematically ps3's CPU is more powerful and I'm sure they will be code that will take advantage of it sooner or later. Yeah ps3 doesn't include hard drive and xbox 360 dose, xbox 360 only supports 1 screen and 4 wireless controllers when ps3 can work with 2 screens and 7 wireless controllers. Xbox 360 games will only be on a DVD, when PS3 games will be on DVD but some on blu-ray disks allowing a lot more space for longer games.

There is good and bad things about both. Nether is better, Wait till they come out and games are out.

Correction:  Way to many people in here who think graphics > gameplay

586632212[/snapback]

Too true, I think thats the problem with gaming in general these days. The main focus on games these days seems to be graphics first, gameplay second.

Good graphics adds to the whole experience, but people should realise that gameplay should come first.

Depends on the genre of game you are playing..

But i play games like Doom, Quake 2, Wolf 3D..even the good old Space Invaders :p yet people hate them because graphics...

You people HAVE to understand, the graphics (in THIS generation) really need to be good. YES we WILL continue to compare graphics because THAT IS ALL WE CAN GO BY! All we have are pictures! Once games start coming out, that will change to a certain extent. As human beings we enjoy being wowed visually, that is the first thing that people usually judge games by.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
