Hey, the MSN-problem occurs randomly at different PC's here with AutoPatcher. At neither of them I installed the patch of the Win2000 wachtwoordenbeheer :s

BTW, I use this command to install AutoPatcher:

"C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\AutoPatcher.exe" /skipreboot /defaults:C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\Answers.ini

Works like a charm (ofcourse AFTER putting my answers.ini in the right directory ;) )

Well, about the command that and the parameters that you used, read more information here at this topic. The result is that your system did a reboot.

wrong

/skipreboot

good

/noreboot

About the MSN Messenger troubles I can't simulate these. Not on XP Home or XP Professional

Installed it know a few times without any problems. I will do more tests to see when, what and why.........( I'm using a clean image, maybe that's why I don't have the problems) we'll see......

Thanks for your post!!

A question for the Dutch users!

What do you all think that I should do with the Framework Release 2.0? I could include it in the next release. The only thing is, it's English. That means that all items presented in our language (dutch) will be replaced with the English language.

If only a few people would say include it, then I'll get my doubts about it. So, shoot!!!

Before you installed the "new" version of AutoPatcher, did you removed the older version first?

AutoPatcher was installed for the very first time. Normally I'm not so keen on installing complete 'packs', but now - after it became necessary to install WinXP again; had to much blue screens - I thought "well, lets give AutoPatcher a try". Therefore there was not anything to be removed first.

What OS do you have (pro/home retail or oem)?

Installed OS is WinXP Pro, version 2002 and naturally with Service Pack 2.

Every update is selectable in AutoPatcher, isn't it?

I would also like to see .NET Framework 2.0.

Can you include Media Center Update Rollup 2 and the extra fix for it as well?

I would also like to see .NET Framework 2.0. --> added

When do you get the error 'that you don't have enough rights"? Is that during the installation with AutoPatcher?

When do you get the error 'that you don't have enough rights"? Is that during the installation with AutoPatcher?

Nope. After running AutoPatcher found out, that MSN wasn't upgraded to v7.5. Did not bother to look for the reason why at that time. Downloading the dutch MSN-file seperately is quick and installing is easy to do, is it not?

So after the many many perfectly installed upgrades, I downloaded the MSN-file (Install_MSN_Messenger.EXE; the 75b306NL-version). But after just a few seconds of executing a pop-up appears telling me I do not have the proper rights for this kind of action and I should contact the administrator (FYI. The same message appeared after I tried the Dutch 311-build).

Did not give up so easely. Downloaded again the MSN-file, but this time the UK-version. This one was accepted immidiately. No problems what so ever. Nor with the 306, nor with the 311 UK build. Strange, n'est-ce pas?

So I de-installed MSN completely from mu system and had another shot with the 306 NL build. "Helaas pindakaas", again the know pop-up appeared again (not the proper rights).

[...have shorten your story.....]

The problem is possible the BOOTSTRAP.EXE it's included in the file Install_MSN_Messenger.EXE

What you can try is this:

Download the MSN Messenger here

After downloading, go to the folder where you saved the file, make a batchfile with the command as shown below:

INSTALL_MSN_MESSENGER.exe /C /T:%temp%\msn75

Run the batchfile (will be a second or three)

Then acces the folder that was created. It could be something like this one, depending on the username "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\msn75" you'll find there two files. Delete the BOOTSTRAP.EXE and start msnmsgs.msi by double click it with your mouse-pointer ;)

Be sure that the MSN messenger is not running, a lot of people have configured it to start at Windows startup or at the "sign-on" option.

:D :p :D DaFlapDrol, your 'solution worked!! Great :D :p :D

Had to make a minor adjustment for this result. Followed the link you suggested. The Dutch MSN started to download after telling I'm a registered user. But ... installing? Now way. Pop-up appeared with next (Dutch) error message: "De installatie van MSN Messenger is mislukt met foutcode: 1638. Ga naar website van MSN Messenger http:// mesenger.msn.com en download de laatste versie van MSN Messenger."

Tried something different. Googled and located at http://www.coolenaam.nl/msn7.php the "MSN Messenger 7.5 Officiele versie!"

Ran the batchfile, looked for the Temp-directory and deleted BOOTSTRAP.EXE. After selecting msnmsgs.msi I chose "Repair". E voila, got the dutch MSN 7.5 b311 version. :woot: :woot: Checked it once again by selecting i.e. several things under "Help". At first there were some script errors, but by ignoring them they stayed away later on.

So many thanks DaFlapDrol :D  :D

In the next days I will give the new November edition of AutoPatcher a try, that is when the Dutch version is available. I promise to get back and report (hopefully) the good news of 'no problems'. Will do that btw in the proper topic. Signing out.

Glad that is solved your problem with the MSN installation issue. In the next release it will be solved!!

Can you change something for me? It's the comment on the topic at tweakers......just place my real-name a;)that topic. ;) and more important is that I'm not an employee of NEOWIN. Just take a look at the sign below this comment....it's all about AutoPatcher.

At this moment the november release of the Dutch version of the full and lite version are not released yet.

That's not too bad, because we have the october release, no? What a pity though this is nowhere to be found for downloading. Not on the links provided on this topic. Not on any torrent website.

Can anybody find it somewhere and post the link here?

It's better for you to wait for the next release. The December Release!!!!!! A few issues are solved in that Release and offering more addons......

    • Are they marketed as an entry into astronomy or astrophotography? I do astrophotography. With big rigs, lots of computers, cables and headaches. I love it. And by learning this ridiculously complex hobby, I’ve learned about the objects I’m shooting. Astronomy followed from photography.
    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.

    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
