yeah, those guys just scored a free video iPod.

and what did they expect the employees to do, i bet if i walked in, brought a top of the line G5, took to it with a sledgehammer, and asked them to join in, they probably would, it's my money i'm wasting, why would they care?

What a bunch of idiots.

What do Apple care.. they got their $400 and its one less warranty possibility to have to worry about. If anything you've done them a favour rather than making any sort of point. Congratulations.

Might have been better spent sending aid to the millions of displaced people in Pakistan, or the countless thousands who've had their lives ruined in New Orleans, etc etc..

Here here. The post-of-the-day award goes to you.

DAMN you people don't understand this at all. The guy's actually conducting a social experiment; that's why he's filming peoples reactions. The point is to make all the dumb idiots who love their iPods, and anyone who thinks of an iPod as a "Big Kahuna" to be worshiped, to scream their heads off; NOT to make Apple feel bad, or something like that. Anyone who says this is dumb, immediately misses the point, and proves his experiment completely right.

And some of the flamers on his site complain about wasting money... but it obviously isn't a waste, if people will gladly give their money to see what people say when he smashes the bugger. Even if you DO think it's a waste, just let it go.. because it's not your money.

This is a very nice idea, and I personally, would love to see the apple fanboys cry. Go hug your money somewhere else.

i dont think it's a matter of fanboys this or fansboys that. There are plenty of people who's parents can't make ends meet who would love something like an iPod or XBox. Like someone else mentioned that money could have gone to other better things.

And to tell you the truth, it may seem strange to some people, but some workers like working in their jobs. Some people do like the products they sell, and why not, the ipod brings a lot of joy to a lot of people. They look good and are desirable, so when someone comes in a smashes up their products why shouldn't they look p***ed off. I know i would be.

It seems that anything successful must be hated, thank god Microsoft didn't create the iPod or there would probably be a crusade by now. I don't understand why people have such a deep hatred of the iPod, if you don't like them don't buy em, if i don't like something i don't bitch about it on the nearest forum, i just don't buy it.

Like a lot of other people have mentioned all they have done is smashed up a previous generation which they got bored with, and got themselves a spanking new one for nothing.

This is not an experiment, it's just a waste of time and money, and a way for some spoilt kid to get a new iPod.

Wow. I agree, a big waste of time and money. It could have gone to better causes, but then again, that's pretty cool, I'm looking forward to smashmyps3.com and smashmyxbox.com.

From smash my xbox:

The Plan

From the creators of SmashMyiPod.com, we bring you, SmashMyXbox.com!

After we collect $430 in donations, we will take that money to a local Best Buy, which opens at 12am on the launch date. We will purchase the Xbox 360, and destroy it in front of the other Xbox fanboys who are already waiting in line. We will try to be at the very front of the line. The whole thing will be shot on film, and displayed on this site. This is only a social experiment, for the entertainment of the donors, and visitors of this site. For more info, read the faq.

Damn.

Yes, there are people who can barely make ends meet, and people left homeless by disasters and all of that... and that's why those people aren't donating. People who aren't exactly on the verge of destruction aren't about to stop spending any money just because somebody else can't... seems like a good way to destroy the economy to me.

The iPod they destroyed is a brand new 20 gig model... I don't see why anyone would go on about how it's a fake, especially since they recorded it on video.

Oh, trojan, your post has got to be one of the best I've ever seen in defence of the smashing projects. I'm going to quote it on the smashourstuff.com forums :)

The video will be officially released tommorow, so check it out!

    • Here is the new Surface Laptop Ultra wallpaper in high resolution by Taras Buria Earlier this week, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, its brand-new high-end laptop powered by NVIDIA's brand-new RTX Spark processor. As usual, Microsoft gives each new device a unique wallpaper, and the Surface Laptop Ultra is no exception. While the device is not publicly available yet, somebody has already extracted its wallpaper, giving everyone a chance to get a piece of the upcoming laptop in its full-resolution glory. The Surface Laptop Ultra has a very dark, abstract wallpaper that resembles the stock wallpapers in Windows Server, albeit with much less color. Having this dark, grim wallpaper highlights the laptop's mini-LED display and its ability to cut off parts of the screen's backlight to achieve OLED-like black levels. However, if you also like light wallpapers, we made a white version by simply inverting its colors. You can download both wallpapers below (click the image, right-click it, and select "Save as"): The Surface Laptop Ultra is expected to launch later this year. Microsoft is not revealing full details yet, including the price. However, Microsoft confirmed up to 1 petaflop of AI performance and RTX 5070-level of GPU performance. The heart of the laptop has up to 20 CPU cores and 6,144 GPU cores. Additionally, Microsoft and NVIDIA boast high CPU efficiency for all-day battery life. As for the display, it is a 15-inch mini-LED display with a pixel density of 262 ppi and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. Of course, not everyone needs this amount of power, and certainly not everyone can afford it. For those who need a more affordable device, Microsoft is also preparing the next-generation Surface Pro powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite processor. Weeks ahead of the announcement, details about this computer were leaked by a retailer. Do you like the Surface Laptop Ultra's stock wallpaper? Share your thoughts in the comments. • From all that I've read on the subject--not that much, really--it looks to me like companies and parents are trying to protect themselves from children using their parents accounts to run up giant bills, sometimes in the thousands of dollars, and the first the parents know about it is when they get sued... Internet companies have been sued for tailoring their ads to children, which is kind of old news. My belief is that policing starts at home with the parents, and the reason that so many laws that can't be enforced are being passed is because parents are eschewing their responsibilities, claiming not enough time, not enough knowledge, etc. Giving kids cell phones sans Internet connectivity is a good place to start--confine Internet activity to PCs in the home that the parents regulate. My kids are all grown and gone, I'm happy to say... They have their own kids to worry about.

    • BTW DXVK is also available on Windows and offers similar benefits like on Linux when it comes to performance, at least in some titles. The Raceroom racing sim for example even offers DXVK as one of its officially supported options and it can achieve ridiculous improvements in certain situations, like quite literally doubling (or more) the framerates
